2k make more then sports games so just keep that in mind. They also make the Grandtheft Auto games and several successful computer franchise games.

It just seems like the past 2 years they have paid way more attention to their PC side of the business then the console side. Which happens from time to time, because EA has done the same thing.

As far as voicing your opinion and having others yell TRAITOR ! That will always happen with die hards who are blinded by their loyalty to a particular franchise.

No 2k studios makes Bio Shock, The Darkness, etc.

Visual Concepts / 2ksports only make sports games.

and Rockstar makes the Grand theft auto series.

They all have a common publisher which is Take-Two Entertainment.

Take-Two favors Rockstar and they favor 2k studios.

But VC / 2ksports division are continuously coming out 3rd and last when it comes to budgets and marketing.

Sports games are the top selling items every year on gaming consoles. And TT has some of the best designers in the world on their squad and they continue to over look and help them year after year since acquiring them from Sega.

I like that they are going PC now, but we've seen modders do better things with the PC titles. But the consoles is what got them where they are now, and they are selling PC games for like $20 compared to the $65 for console games and not many PC's can run half their games.

Alienating consoles will do nothing but destroy their sales and the **** marketing they do every year doesn't help the fact.

And then my basketball, oh! my basketball! NBA 2k9, it animates nice, presentation was amazing, player models were even more detailed than last year, but not by much! Stadiums are too bright and no real dynamic lighting, constant sliding, and defensive A.I. is a bust! Then you have force fields around the players on fast breaks that make them run like something is bumping against them, players clipping through players. And the one pet peeve that most 2kfans have yet to point out. Is when it comes to the substance of the series! Nothing was truly added to the game, absolutely nothing, they changed the menu system but every damn option was the same. Even the edit player and create a player was identical to 2k8 with a fresh menu.

Am I wrong for being so bluntly honest about no liking them as much anymore!

I see you haven't been reading my posts I been stated that they have gone flash over substance a while ago. The thing is 2K9 isn't the beginning point. This has been creeping in since 2K6/7. But you have to look for it. But I agree with you wholeheartedly man.

I tell you to TRULY see how a game plays you have to play the worse team against the best team and see how the game reacts. Then you have a good base to see what you're working with.

when I play an mlb2k9 game, I can't even finish the game. I get so angry. When I tell my outfielders to go to the ball, they stop or barrel roll or some stupid ****. When my catcher gives me signs, I have to shake them off 5 times just to get the pitch I want. I can't hit when I need to hit. I can't pitch well when I need to pitch well. The throwing meter is ridiculous. When I wanna throw a strike from 3rd to 1st sometimes it throws it as slow as possible OR, OR it doesnt throw at all. Also sometimes in the outfield, I wanna throw to 3rd it throws to 1st. 1st basemans foot wont stay on the plate, or last but not least the catcher is 10 feet away from the plate when he's applying the tag so the runner is 95 percent of the time safe. The only games I've been impressed with since dreamcast are nba 2K8 and CH2K8

I guess this is hard for me to grasp b\c for me personally, gaming isnt of the places I would use the word "loyalty". But I do think your doing yourself a disservice by hanging on to fact your dissapointed, ive seen you post similar things a couple of times now. This is coming from a casual gamer though, you seem a little more hardcore which I get. That collection is amazing though...Ive traded all mine in over the years.

Me? I will purchase and play the best sports game that comes out for each genre whether it has a 2k logo or not. If im dissapointed with a game one year, I will try the alternative...and go w\ the best game...like Steve says, I have to have some kind of sports gaming going on lol. As far as this years basketball though...I think both games didnt bring thier A game....While im dissapointed, I defintely have ALOT of fun w\ 2k, I personally cannot stomach Live after multiple tries, unplayable to me.

Thats the beautiful thing about opinion\options though....Happy gaming in the future mayne

Honestly, I was never really a fan boy of Particular Publishers or developers with the Exception of a few ( Bethesda, Valve, Rockstar, Infinity Ward, and Maxis). As far as Sports games go, I usually play the best game on the market with the Exception of MLB:The Show (no PS3). I have Always played Madden but I do remember being conflicted when NFL 2k5 came out. I played the hell out of both of em but came away liking Madden cuz I liked the Gameplay more.

I played The NHL 2k Series up until NHL 08 came out. I enjoyed MLB 2k7 Then I played MLB: The Show. College Hooks 2K8 is still King But I have a feeling NCAA Basketball will surpass that next year.

Here is My Prediction: 2K Sports will Continue to drop off over the next few years and will suffer in Sales, Then Take Two will most likely drop them. One of two things Will Happen, Either EA will buy up the remaining contracts ( Unlikely for EA to secure all of the Major sports) Or a Company like Activision will Acquire VC and they will become relevant again.

Man that would make me happy as well, I think Activision would give them a better graphics engine and give them a better development budget. Not to mention Activision knows marketing and how to advertise. Spiderman is a perfect example, Call of Duty, you name it, these guys turn games into gold and platinum hits.

Activision's new gameplan does worry me a bit. But adding a Company like VC would fit into their corporate goal because they want more IPs ( which is why they let go of Ghostbusters).

I see the potential in every one in their games this year and there's actually some good things to be said about them. But I agree with what Behindshadows is saying and realize his concern. The quality of 2K's titles has gradually decreased since the amazing 2K5 series.

And with that being said, 2K10 (NBA/NHL/MLB) has to be worth a damn or I'm probably going to wash my hands of all of this as well. Innovation and improvement need to occur, and fast. Each game has great ideas, but sloppy execution has been holding these ideas back. This needs to stop...whatever happened to having a great CORE gameplay experience instead of a full-featured but unplayable mess?

I hate to say this in another thread, but once 2K fixes the little things (bad coding, bugs, sloppy execution), the bigger things will take care of themselves.

After playing and loving Live, I finally gave 2K9 a fair shot, and the comparisons aren't even close, Live isn't even in the same league as 2K9 in terms of gameplay. I could drive with anyone in Live over and over again, and never miss.

MLB 2K9 is a lot of fun, and since patch #2, I'm loving the game.

I'm a collector and the value to me to have those is priceless, because they aren't for sale. Yeah they are worth 5 cents to the person that thinks they have no value. They are works of art from 2ksports and all in mint condition even the Dreamcast games, I backed them up on burned disc so I would never have to play the originals again and keep them in mint condition.

Worthless to you, but priceless to me! 1 man's garbage is another man's treasure. And these are treasures to me!

It's not about Live. It's about NBA 2K9 being all that it can be. It's like getting served a steak on the floor and being served a steak on a garbage can lid. Does it really matter which steak is better served between the two? You're still eating like a bum.

Agreed its not about Live, but anytime you want to say something negative about 2ksports. The usual 2k fan runs it, with the EA bashing overlay, when the subject is 2ksports, not the competitor. It's like an easy out! Well honestly this year the competition went forward with progress, while 2ksports is still regressing! Something has to change, I don't want to see them fail. Even the MLB is thinking about removing the license because of how poor 2k9 is compared to the Show 09. Now that's sad, and just a rumor I heard ! Don't shoot the messenger!

I skipped on 2k this year, but I will say that I've seen them become a little complacent in recent years. They'd add stuff, but not really all that much would change. EA's been called out for the same thing, and with a good game it's ok for a few years but at some point "more of the same" isn't enough...

Also, with baseball I think The Show is better, and with Hockey NHL 09 is putting on the pressure. Basketball 2k's better, but since they're being challenged I'm not sure they've reacted like EA did (you have to realize that EA's at least trying to shake things up and make them better).
