That picture of the little one....terrible, terrible. Do they still have the death penalty in California? This would seem like a case where it would be applied.

If "we" stop putting random people in jail, our prisons wouldnt be crowded....

My uncle went 4years in jail without getting a court date...So basically he waited 4 years to see how much time he's getting, not to mention they are trynaa make him do the 5 years over(did 4 already) for his gun charge which he was locked up for....He had multiple cases but beat all of them except his gun charge....

This is just one of many examples of whats wrong with the system....

Edit- how can I forget this fact....He is licsensed to carry, the gun he was charged with was his baby's mothers which was in the car....

Oh yea it was a drugs/weapon charge BTW

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but since you brought it up.....and maybe you're still leaving out some details, but I don't get the "eye for an eye" parallel with your uncle's situation.

And what's the "we" reference. You're being a little cryptic in this reply.

I have no problem with the death sentence where forethought of murder is proven. Hell, I don't even have a problem with it if it might be in the heat of the moment. People say capital punishment is not a deterrent? It sure is. For that guy.

            "we" was reffering to America....

Eye for eye = killing a killer....I dont agree with capitol punishment but thats just my opinion so we shall leave it at that...

I bought up my uncle's situation(who is 25 BTW) because the argruement on the death penalty is that prisons are over crowded(prolli goes deeper) so I was just giving a example on why the system is screwy and prolli the reason why its over crowded...

It depends on where you live, too.

In Charlotte and breaking or entering will get you a fine and probation. Do that **** in a small county in West Virginia and you might get no bail and 4 years hard time.

We do not have a uniform legal system across the country, and we should.

I know here in Florida there have been some problems with executions.
                    Here are a few examples..................................

“If you support the death penalty because you think that [the victim families] are ever going to be healed by the murder of another person, that isn’t healing, that’s revenge. And revenge isn’t actually that sweet.” Death Penalty Focus board member Bethany Webb explains why she is opposed to the death penalty despite the fact […]

That's fine and dandy in theory, but the real world can be ugly and ruthless.

It's not a theory. It's Civics. We build society to enhance the potential of our best members, not to enhance the deeds of our worst members.

But I've been down this road before, lol. I know it just gets ugly from here. I've said my piece. It's a good thing that we don't condone extreme and sadistic punishment. It proves that we are still capable of reason.
