Good luck with that, told ya Walmart is always hiring, especially cashiers. Beware....Walmart shoppers are some of the most nasty and rude people you will ever see LOL.

They talk to Walmart workers like they some 2nd class citizens.

You should call them and ask to talk to a manager, a day or two after you apply.

I applied to K-Mart the other day... can't find ish around here. Doesn't help I live in a pretty small town and I have to drive a good minute to get to anywhere. And now with gas prices rising...

I wanted to get an internship, thought that it'd be an ideal time to get one, but me nor my family could give me enough money to do one, or at least pay for my room and food. There was nothing close to home that I was notified of.

I've resorted to fast food places because I need something. The job market sucks so bad around here especially since a lot of manufacturing jobs were cut. Whirlpool closed a big plant and Alcoa laid off nearly 350 in the last year. John Deere is even laying off and they are headquartered in this area. Lots of people out hunting.

For the first time in my life I've been having problems finding a job and I'm only looking for grunt stuff.

I have an interview at Yale New Haven Hospital tomorrow to work in their cafeteria. They had me come in last week and take a test online which was pretty much like the tests that all the retail stores have you take online when you apply. They said I did good on that, so now I interview with 2 people tomorrow.

There's also a chance I'll get a job in the mailroom of the office I worked at last year. That probably won't be that many hours, but hopefully the schedule will work out so I can do both these jobs.

I've always wondered how this process works. I'd imagine they don't let just anyone park Ferraris.

I work in a lab at my uni.

I'm surprised more people in this thread don't work at their schools during summer, there are so many jobs to be had on campus during summer.

This is true, but I went home for the summer. In retrospect, I should have stayed. I coulda come back and visited for a week or so and then went back.

I got a job last month finally working 2nd shift at a convenience store near my house. It's only $8 per hour but I am getting over 40 hours a week now. Once school starts I'll cut back to 24 hours a week.

You get to deal with a lot of jerks but I keep reminding myself it's only temp until I graduate.

I'm going to quit my retail clothing job and start a government job with the body that regulates alcohol here in Quebec. Basically i'm going to be a cashier-seller selling wines and other alcohols...Pays 20 bucks an hour, only thing is it's on call and there's not many guaranteed hours. Pretty good right before school starts.
