Re: Schools out!!
Nope. A 2.0 is good, if you ask me. And it is really easy to get a 2.0 too. I will say it here and I really mean this. College is not for everyone. If I was getting a 2.0 in HS; I would be looking for a trade career. The key thing is you need to be looking now. You are never too young to start planning your career.
A 3.0 is decent. A 3.5 is "good." A weighted 4.0+ is where I'd actually start using positive adjectives for anyone I actually cared about.Comment

Re: Schools out!!
I know plenty of people at my school that have had gpa's around 2.0 and gotten into all the in-state universities, and quite a few out of state public universities.
I've got a 3.5 right now, but my act was 31 last December, so I think I've got a decent shot at getting into a good school. My HS is really tough, though. In my English and Humanities class last year literally only 2 out of the 16 students got A's, and they were suck-ups. I'm not gonna suck up to a teacher, even if it is for a little better grade.
It's all relative, a 2.0 at a public school is pretty ****ty, but at a really hard private school it isn't all too bad.WUSTLComment

Re: Schools out!!
Brown, Cornell, and Dartmouth are Ivy League schools like getting a football scholarship to Kentucky or Vandy is a scholarship to an SEC school.
If he got into a "real" Ivy school with a 3.5 weighted, he was either some super minority hybrid (which, being from OK, I'd imagine you know a decent amount of Native Americans) or had a 1600 SAT score.Last edited by Cebby; 05-30-2009, 10:04 PM.Comment

Which Ivy League schools?

I know another that got to Penn that had a 4.0, and I know a girl who is currently attending Yale that had about a 3.7.
It's all kind of a crapshoot. One of my best friends' brother had a 4.0 unweighted, 34 ACT, played football, made movies, an all-around great player, you would that he wouldn't have much of a problem getting into colleges.
He got rejected at Yale, Harvard, and Princeton, and ended up doing to Dartmouth.WUSTLComment

Re: Schools out!!
This is what got my brother a scholarship(half of tuition paid for). The sad thing is I was probably smart enough to get that too, but too many personal issues got in the way. I've still got a 3.1 GPA though, and next year(my senior year) will probably raise it a bit because almost all classes I can get an easy A in.Comment

Re: Schools out!!

Well, you still went 180 days like I did. We just got out for more teacher workdays and such during the year.Comment

Re: Schools out!!
2 guys. One graduated in '07, one graduated in '08. Both were cool, well-rounded guys. I don't know what their test scores were, but they were probably pretty good. One plays football there, so was given a little preference, the other does not.
And my school has a pretty good history with that school, so it makes it a little easier. idk about any family connections, they may have had some. There are some people in my school's community with pretty strong connections to Princeton.Last edited by auburntigersfan; 05-30-2009, 11:08 PM.WUSTLComment

Re: Schools out!!
If you want to make a collage, just cut out a bunch of pictures from a magazine and glue them all down on a paper, creating a piece of art (Like we did in grade school). I don't think you need to pay any tuition or what grades have to do with creating a collage, though...Green Bay Packers | Milwaukee Brewers | Bradley Braves | Wisconsin Badgers

Re: Schools out!!
Any ways I say try harder next year, but 2.0 is passing.

Re: Schools out!!
How is that contradict. I am saying a 2.0 is good and easy to get. Why do you think the schools have probation with anything less than a 2.0. It is passing. You guys crack me up what was your GPA in HS? Mine was 3.2, but that really doesn't matter. The only thing I wanted to do was play sports and with a 2.0 you can do that. So if it is good enough to play sports and go to the dances then I say it is good enough for the guys on OS.Comment
