Re: Introvert or Extrovert: Which are you?

On that quick Internet test, I tested out as an INTJ. The explanation of it was pretty much spot on for me. I'd like to take a more formal test some time. It would be very interesting.

The Braintypes.com site is much better and more through than the jungs meyers stuff.

John Niednegal is the guy who pro teams use to help scount players

I remember he told the Chargers not to take Ryan Leaf because he was going to be a bust... he explained why and how his muscles and brain reacts when under pressure...

Needless to say they ignored him and Leaf turned out to be a huge bust LOL

Anyway he puts up athletes and celebs profiles all the time... Looks like my subscription expired, I thought it auto renewed.

Lets see if I can find the simple one for you

Here's a link to an MBTI-ish test: www.16personalities.com. Not the actual test itself, but close. Some of the information on that site and some follow up research blew my mind and made a lot of sense.
Wow, cool test. I'm an INFJ type which is the rarest, less than 1% of the population.

The writeup on that is actually helping me to see what maybe I should be doing for a living too. Hmm.

Re: Introvert or Extrovert: Which are you?

ok give me a sec then ill edit this post

Alright FT... its alot man so Ill just post a little of it LOL!

ndications are you are BACK-Brain Dominant: lower energy level, reserved, soft spoken, shy, do fewer things, seek more private, solitary activities with quiet to concentrate, internal, reticent, hold things in, reflective, deliberate.

Back-brainers (B) are compelled to recharge their batteries from within. Many Back-brain dominant people are inclined to keep their real selves hidden until they fully trust a confidant or until they know others will take the time to hear them out. Back-brainers build their energy when they have time and space to be alone. They are not as distracted by activities around them, as they possess better concentrating abilities. B's generally conserve energy and delve deeply into interests and relationships. They have fewer acquaintances, since they tend to become drained by too much interaction. Through practice, or by being in an "extraverted" Front-brain dominant family, a Back-brainer may develop a good facility for Front-brained "extraversion." Remember, environment or upbringing can have a profound influence on one's persona. It will not, however, change a person's Front or Back brain genetic dominance at all. What it can do is make an impact on the personality traits of extraversion and introversion.

Conversely, In very general terms, Front-brainers (F) usually prefer to focus on the outer world and are energized by their contact with it. Their batteries are normally charged by talking and interacting with people, with activities, with living out their plans and dreams. It is believed that upwards of 80 percent of the population in the United States is Front-brained-thanks to their genetic dominance.

There are varying degrees of Front-brain and Back-brain proficiency. People who display extreme dominance in the Front-brain (normally the result of unique genetic or nutritional factors) will be absorbed in action, crowds, business, rushing from place to place, and speaking extemporaneously. They would rather "do" than "wait." Back-brainers with extreme tendencies will be reclusive, painfully shy and retiring. Most of us are somewhere in between.
Indications are your preception of the outside world tends to be CONCEPTUAL: look for meaning and possibilities, rely on foresight, look to future, global perspective, "big picture" , ideas, dreams, seeing "what could be," philosophical.

Conceptual (C), while associated with Jung's "intuition," should not be confused with common notions of that word. Conceptual is the reliance upon one's own insights into the world of possibilities, concepts, significance, absorbing information. In other words, the ability to easily imagine.

The Conceptual enjoys symbols, daydreaming, and mental gymnastics that focus on the future. For the Conceptual, the here and now takes second place to the past and future. Facts are useful only to develop patterns that lead to further discoveries or that support thoughts and ideas already held. The driving force inside the Conceptual is to invent and create. Cs are more apt to "read into things" and "read between the lines." Therefore, the Conceptual who is permitted to develop this giftedness is the dealer in ideas-the inventor, the novel writer, the research scientist, the journalist, the movie director.

Conversely, The Empirical (E) lives in the real world of the present. Empiricals are pragmatic and enjoy impressions from their environment taken in through the five senses. They're observant and factual. They are most interested in the immediate usefulness of knowledge, and they tend to shun the theoretical. One of their questions is, "Will it work?"

Empiricals go through life trusting the tangible, the visible. They pay attention to detail and follow directions step by step. Direct conversation is their style, generally saying what they mean and interpreting what they hear and read literally.

The difference between Empiricals and Conceptuals is wide and varied, and they need great tolerance of one another. Empiricals may see Conceptuals as flighty, impractical, out of touch with reality. Conceptuals may see Empiricals as short-sighted, nit-picking and unimaginative. Using one function or the other exclusively can lead one astray. We need the input of both functions-facts with possibilities, and dreams in touch with reality.
Indications are your processing of information tends to be ANIMATE: empathetic, feeling, accommodating, tactful, kind, encouraging, tenderhearted, merciful.

There are two ways that we process the information we take in-either PERSONALLY or IMPERSONALLY. Decisions must inevitably be made, and people find themselves most comfortable making them based on either a personal basis-their Animate (A) function, or on an impersonal basis-their Inanimate (I) function.

Animate-oriented persons make judgments or decisions more subjectively, placing extra emphasis on personal values. They consider how a decision will affect people. They are more apt to be totally and personally involved in decision-making. They use persuasion rather than argument to convince another person to see things their way. Softer, friendly expressions and ready smiles give us clues to their dominant Animate function. Click for a Detailed Description

Conversely, Inanimates are more apt to make decisions based on logical, impersonal reasoning. They can be objective and rational, considering rules and policy, and they can more easily remove themselves personally from the decision-especially those dominant in the Left-brain. From the Animate perspective, the Inanimate may sometimes seem distant and hard-hearted.

Inanimates seek objective truth, using the terms "true" and "false," "right" and "wrong." They use emotions and values only to validate logical conclusions. Inanimates must be careful to ensure their deductions are based on valid statistics. To avoid hurting a friend, a wise Inanimate will learn at an early age to be tactful when telling the truth.
Indications are you are LEFT-Brain Dominant: organized, orderly, plan, schedule, regulated, structured, preparation, work-minded, control, govern.

We have the two hemispheres of the brain. Neuroscientists have discovered that the Left hemisphere specializes in concentrating on one issue at a time, whereas the Right hemisphere focuses on many issues at once.

In determining whether someone is an L or an R, don't put too much emphasis on how they behave at work. Work arenas demand we act a certain way. Think about the total person, how we choose to live during the time when we call the shots.

Left-brainers prefer to take action and come to a decision or conclusion as soon as possible. They are driven to closure in their outer world. Left-brained persons tend to be organized and decisive, and they value advanced planning. They are geared toward making decisions about what they should do, as well as what others should do. They prefer to plan, maintain order, and control events and people around them. L's do better with deadlines and living by the rules. Being more work-oriented, they want to get their work done before they play, believing that play must be earned. They are essentially optimistic and cheerful, even amid difficult times. That optimism may not always be readily observable, however, as they continually try to put things in order. Yet they heavily reside in the Left brain-the more emotionally stable hemisphere.

Conversely, Right-brainers are those who need additional time dealing with the outer world before making decisions. They feel the need to gather more information and make observations, keeping their schedules and viewpoints fairly open-ended. In this way, they are in a position to experience the new and exciting. This is true for both the Front-brainer and the Back-brainer (on the Right side). If you want to do something on the spur of the moment, call the spontaneous R person.

The Right brain is more emotional, negative and pessimistic than the Left brain. Right-brain dominant individuals are more flexible and adaptable. They shun the attempts of others to put them in a box. They avoid confinement and desire greater freedom with little or no restraints. If taken to the extreme, R persons may stray off course and lose control of their outer lives. R's need a degree of Left-brain function so that they can know what their boundaries are.

Last, R's tend to receive new information in a non-judgmental, open-minded way, whereas L's are inclined to make new information conform to preconceived knowledge, hesitating if it doesn't. Years of research at BTI have revealed that well over half of the United States population is innately Right-brain dominant.

                          Questionnaire Accuracy?
You may not agree with everything (or anything!) that is written about you, but if you have answered the questionnaire according to your true Type, the majority of traits and habits will be accurate. If you really struggle with the description of your personality, it is likely that one or more of your preferences are wrong. If this is the case, don't be concerned. Accuracy cannot be guaranteed by a questionnaire. It is only the first step in discovering your inherent characteristics.

NOTE: The behavioral explanations for each Brain Type are meant for the majority of persons within their classification. There will be substantive exceptions for the minority. Because of the enormous diversity within mankind, and complexity even within those of like Brain Type, it is not only possible but likely that in reading a Type’s portrayal, you’ll feel the urge to take exception at some of the behavioral traits. Please understand, this is normal. You are unique, and yet share similarities with others of the same Type. There is sure to be a consistent thread of accuracy and predictability between you and them. So as you read―assuming you have identified yourself correctly―please keep this in mind.
