Re: Scariest moment of your life
Car accident a few years ago, I was driving to my gf's house at night just after we had a big snowstorm that afternoon and all the roads were frozen over. I've driven in these conditions before so I didnt think anything of it and I was driving on a ramp to get on the highway and hit a patch of ice I didnt even see lost control of my car and went off the side of the road. I remember hitting a bunch of bushes and then hitting a tree stopping my car. I was okay after that and I was on the phone with 911 telling them I was just in a car accident when and SUV slams into the passenger side of my car (I had a small ford escort then, no match for a SUV)pushing my car. Thank god no one was in my passenger seat because they would of been injured for sure. It turns out the SUV hit the same patch of ice I hit moments after I hit it.
I was ok after the accident with some arm and neck pain but nothing chronic. I was just shaken up more than anything. I had my seatbelt on, and the first impact with the tree wasnt too hard. The impact with the SUV was much harder but It was on the passenger side thank god.
The scary thing about it is it happened all so fast. I just remember having no control of my car and seeing branches of trees and bushes smacking my windshield. I didnt even see the SUV coming.
So yea, probrably the only really scary moment of my life.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - Bulls -

Re: Scariest moment of your life
But other than that 2 scariest moments of my life.
1. I grew up in a small manufacturing/farming community so to do anything good, you generally had to drive a ways. Anyway, I was driving back from playing basketball at the YMCA that was about 20 miles from my house. It was icy out and I was racing to get home. I hit a patch of ice going about 70(yes, I was young and foolish) and started doing some 360's with no chance to stop. I just missed a giant tree and flew through a barb wire fence into a herd of Beefalo(half cow, half buffalo). These things were huge and everywhere. I somehow missed all of them, but I counted doing 5 360's before I stopped. I thought I saw the devil sitting next to me like in Planes Trains and automobiles.
2. On Halloween Eve(Devil's night) my buddy in the front seat was just about getting ready to egg some kids on the street corner. There were 5 of us in a little hatchback. When I heard someone yelling right behind us and I turned and had a gun pointed right at the back of my head. We all screamed go. So my buddy nails it and the guy with the gun gets in a car and starts chasing us. We were blowing stop signs, going 75 in a 35, flying over hills, we got on the highway, took the first exit and there were 4 police cars blocking the road. Turns out the guy with the gun was an off duty police officer who thought we had done some other crimes.
I wasn't really scared once the cops got us, but I thought that guy was going to pull the trigger. We ended up getting off because we said the guy didn't identify himself as a police officer. If he had, there was no way we would have ran. I honestly thought it was a lunatic that was going to open fire.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Re: Scariest moment of your life
That's easy. It's the day I almost died.
I was 11 years old and at my friend's house riding our bicycles. He lives on a very hilly street and I thought I would be cool and ride down the hill on the bike and come to a stop before I got to the street down below (which is a very busy road BTW). Well, as I rode down the hill, I just kept gaining more and more speed (obviously, but tell that to a stupid 11-year old) and couldn't get the bike to stop. I don't know if the brakes gave out or what, but nothing I tried worked. I knew I was screwed if I rode out onto that road at the bottom of my friend's street so at the last second, I did the only thing I could. I cut the wheels and steered the bike towards the curb. As the bike hit the curb, I went flying off the bike, head over heels onto the sidewalk. I was cut and scratched all over my body (still have a few scars from it) but it was better than the alternative.New Jersey Devils- 1995, 2000, 2003

Re: Scariest moment of your life
Gosh, I don't even know.
I've never been in a car accident. That's probably one of the scariest things I can think of. I guess the scariest incidents that have happened to me would be near crashes where we narrowly avoided get hit. I don't remember specific events, but they've happened before.
Actually, probably the scariest was driving home from our high school football's championship game (we won). I was with three of my friends, with one of them driving. He was going over 100 MPH racing some other girl we knew from school. I've always been nervous when driving with someone else, especially friends who always try to show off and go fast or skid out or whatever. But yeah, going over 100 MPH and of course, the other cars look like they're crawling along. Well, my friend is an idiot at times, but he's a pretty lucky guy. So we're cruising and I'm holding onto the seat in front of me for dear life. Then my friend doesn't see a car in front of him as he's looking at his blind spot to make a lane change. Since he's going so fast, he caught up to the guy in front of us so fast. But he didn't realize this because, like I said, he's an idiot at times. But we barely change out of the lane before slamming into the guy.
They thought it was cool. I nearly **** my pants.

Re: Scariest moment of your life
Probably my back surgery.
The weeks leading up to it, I wasn't scared at all but on the morning of my surgery I got really freaked out. It didn't help that the anesthesiologist told me that since I'd be laying face down for a long period of time and putting a lot of pressure on my eyes, I could potentially lose my vision. That definitely freaked me out.
In the end though, everything went great and my nerve responses (or something like that) improved as the surgery went along, I guess my spine being so ****ed up it effected a bunch of other things that I didn't know of.
Oh, passing out after my first shower at home after my surgery was also a scary moment. Just the part when I woke up on the floor and noticed there was a bit of blood, I was just worried that I ****ed my back up (since I fell backwards).Blind to this impending fate

Re: Scariest moment of your life
I was waiting for somebody to say this. LOL. I didn't have to do it cause I was somewhere else and when I met up with my guys I didn't have my weapon with me so, no weapon, no live fire, NO PROBLEM! lol
Actually for me was a strange rash I got on my neck and underarms. I thought for sure I had got "the package". Man I was shook. Went to the VA and they said it was nothing. Took a while to go away though. Thank god it wasn't VD.
I almost drowned, got into a accident on the highway in a Uhaul, almost electrocuted among other stuff I'm not going to go into here but that rash really shook meLast edited by totalownership; 06-13-2009, 12:34 AM.Comment

Re: Scariest moment of your life
lol someone who understands. The regular daytime live fire was scary, but the nighttime Live fire was pretty terrifying for me. Nothing I ever experienced in the Army was as scary as that one day at the shoothouse. It wouldn't have been as bad If I had a good squad leader but My squad leader was not very good at what he did. Its not a very good idea to make your FNG nervous before you go into a house with live rounds. Thank god I was good at what I did and had a good team leader.Last edited by Cusefan; 06-13-2009, 01:40 AM.My dog's butt smells like cookiesComment

Re: Scariest moment of your life
I was once lost in a cave.
Ya, like something in a movie.
It was a series of man made caves that they used for mining or something back in the day. They were enormous... you could barely see your flashlight on the ceiling if you shined it, that's how high they were. But they went DEEP into this mountain. Probably a few miles. And every once in a while, they broke off into 3 different paths.
Well, we got pretty deep into the caves. We had made a couple of turns and the group split because of a miscommunication. Well, not only did we lose a few members, but we suddenly had no idea how to get out of the caves.
We wondered around for a long time. We yelled for the other people in our group and hoped to remember seeing certain things that were near the entrance (car seat, grill, etc.).
We finally saw a burned seat from a car and knew we were going in the right direction. Eventually, we saw daylight and heard the voices of everyone else.
I honestly thought I was going to die in those caves. I honestly thought we had gotten lost and weren't going to find our way out. The caves were so deep and so big and it was so dark and everything looked so much alike... I thought that was it.
I saw "The Descent" a few months later... because of my experience, it's one of the scariest movies I've ever seen.Originally posted by DaImmaculateONeHow many brothers does Sub-zero running around in his clothing? No one can seem to kill the right one.Comment

Re: Scariest moment of your life
Car accident for me as well.
The short version is:
Buddy driving, me passenger, he spins out of control, car goes flying off the road and down into a ditch flipping and landing on it's roof, stuck upside down in the mangled car, car starts to leak petrol, thought it was going to explode, had to get out of seat belt upside down, kick out the passenger window with my feet and crawled away.
Scared the hell out of me and thank god for seat belts....Comment
