I got my first tube amp a few years back. Sounds a lot better than the fender amp I had before. Mesa Double Rectifier with a Marshall cab (Forgot the model) But it sounds great. The clean tones sound filthy especially with my Strat.

Re: The OS Guitarists thread
What is your favorite acoustic Zeppelin song to play and what was your favorite learning?
I want to buy a Zeppelin songbook and am going to let the deciding factor be which acoustic song I want to learn first. I'm leaning towards Zeppelin I or II.

Re: The OS Guitarists thread
I think I've asked this before in here, but for that kind of funky fuzz, what pedals do you guys like? I've listened to some demos on youtube, but I haven't really found one that hits on what I want. I like the fuzz sound ala American Woman (off the top of my head), but a lot of the fuzz pedals just sound like distortion to me and come off hard and riffage, but not warm and rhythmic. Maybe I just need a wah pedal a little bit of OD?

Re: The OS Guitarists thread
Anyone here ever play on an Orange amp? I used to work at a recording studio in Philly that had one and I think that amp has the best overdrive. I currenty use a a Line 6 Spider 2 live and a mix of amps when I record. I love the Line 6 for its great selection of built in effects. Wish I could afford an Orange cab right now though...E_A_G_L_E_SComment

Re: The OS Guitarists thread
[QUOTE=Fresh Tendrils;2042698679]Thanks. Of the demos I watched on youtube, I like the Fuzz Face/MXR classic fuzz the best along with the Ibanez Tube Screamer pedal. Then I found this demo:
I'm very familiar with the Fuzz Face / MXR and Ibanez Tube Screamer...both are very solid "classics"...
That Kanji pedal sounded a bit thin to me, but out of my lap top speakers...who knows?
SEEMED more Lenny Kravitz "American Woman" as opposed to the Guess Who version...
Then again, I have a very old school bias...

Re: The OS Guitarists thread
Have any of you guys heard of andy mckee or antione dufour? They are fingerstyle guitarists, no vocals just guitar. If you haven't I'll post some videos, but I didn't want to post any if you guys already knew about them. It's great stuff to chill to.Battle.net: xXKING08Xx

Re: The OS Guitarists thread
McKee's name sounds familiar, but I can't remember listening to him. I was listening to some guitar "virtuosos" this week via Spotify. I dig Joe Bonamassa's playing, but not too keen on his vocals for his solo stuff, though his album Dust Bowl is pretty good. I was also listening to Eric Johnson. Other than Cliffs of Dover, I've never really took the the time to listen to his stuff but his style is pretty diverse once you actually listen.
I went to a concert Thursday night and there was a 12-string hollow body that looked and sounded absolutely gorgeous. I couldn't make out the name on the headstock. I thought it was a Gretsch, but I don't think that's what the name was. The guitarist was also playing a banjo and pedal steel guitar, which are things I would love to buy to just **** around with.

Re: The OS Guitarists thread
andy mckee - this is probably his most well known song but he has a lot of good stuff.

antoine dufour - not his most difficult in terms of technique and playing but it's awesome.

I hear you on the banjo and steel. I want to get a 6 string banjo because I'm lazy and there is no learning curve.Battle.net: xXKING08Xx

Re: The OS Guitarists thread
What tuning are the 4-string banjos?
Lately I've just been moving between positions for the scales and learning the notes on the fretboard. I think I like the sound of the "D position" scales the best. And E position.

I wasn't sure about the 4 string banjo so I looked it up and this is what I got.
