Personally I think it is all about choice, what you make of a situation. If you go to a crappy High school, you may have to work a little harder and get made fun of because your the geeky white kid but that hardly determines your outcome. Think about it, you could go to a inner city school and get addicted to crack, go to a suburban school and get addicted to meth, or go to a ritzy private school and get addicted to your moms pain medication. When it comes down to it, its all about the choices you make.

get the better education...you'll make friends anywhere. and since you say school 1 is a dump....go w/school 2. Hard to succeed if you have no pride.

I also disagree. There are plenty of differences between high schools. Two main ones here are-
        1. If he goes to the better basketball school he may get a scholorship, whille he may not if he doesn't go to the better basketball school.

        2. If he goes to the better academic school, he will get a better education.

I think both of these can matter 15 years from now. If they happen to be the same school, then even better.

Hmm, you guys now have me leaning towards choice 2. I think i only have a couple more weeks to decide, even though school doesn't start til' August 17th.

Strongly disagree. You can't through hard work make advanced education programs part of a crappy schools curriculum.

I'd say Choice 1. You learn a lot more at big dumpy schools than you ever will at small private schools. I went to a private school for 9th grade and immediately transferred to a big public school for 10th grade on.

I've met so many more interesting people and had so many more opportunities at the big school just because of the great diversity. (Granted, I go to a huge crummy inner-city school in Miami, which might not be the same as wherever you are considering.)

You gotta make the choice yourself, but in my experience, I'm a much bigger fan of the big public school than the small private school.

Choice 1- This school is a 5A school which is the biggest you can get. All of my friends go here. There future for basketball doesn't look so bright. The campus looks like a dump(10minute drive)

Choice 2- This school is 4A. This school has been trying to convince me to go here for about a month now. I could probally make JV as a freshman. We could probally win at least 1 state champion ship. They have a 6'7" incoming freshman like me and one of the best shooters in the state coming in. I really don't know anyone at the school except those 2 players. The campus for the school just got remodeled (15-20minute drive)

Idk where to go. Any advice?

I'm leaning towards choice 1 because of all my friends, but a state championship would be nice. I just don't know anyone at choice 2.
I would go to whichever school you'd like and leave out the sports part. Would you rather go to the nicer school where you don't know anybody or the worse school where all your friends are at? The reason I leave out the sports part is that the chances are that you are not going to play for a college (Not saying you won't because I don't know how good you are, but the chances aren't great for the average athlete) and I think you would be better served going to the school where you will have a better lifestyle and have a better time.

I don't think the second choice was a small private school. It was just a smaller public school that had been recently remodeled.

I'm personally a fan of a small, private school and had the opportunity to go to one from 6th-9th grade (300 students, 150 secondary (Middle and High School) students). I also went to a much larger private school from 2nd-5th grade (1,000+ students). I've gone to a large public school (1,500+ students) since 10th grade and am now a rising Senior, but I don't like it nearly as well. I like the closeness and comradely that you get at a smaller school.

But, then again, I'm not a fan of large crowds and can't stand big cities, so that may be the main reason. I could never live in a place like New York City or Chicago.

Go to whichever school you feel more comfortable at. If it is choice 1 with your friends, then go there.

It won't make or break any recruitment because college basketball recruiting truly happens on the AAU circuit, if you play on a decent AAU team it doesn't matter too much how good or bad your HS team is.

                    I'm 6'3" and a rising sophomore

I made the transition from a small 600 student middle school (5-8) to a 3000 student high school very easy to get lost

I would go with choice 2 and just keep in touch with your friends over weekend and when you have free time

I don't think I've ever seen a freshman that tall. I'm 6'4'' growing to about 6'5'' right now as a rising Junior and I thought I was tall.

I doubt there is a four or five A school in the country that doesn't have advanced education programs.

Im 6'5 going to be a JR.

But 5a schools usually get more exposure, but i'd go with the 4a school just cause you will get more experience, which is key.
