For fun and also for the social aspect. I've made some good friends through live and online leagues.

Other than to have fun, the main reason for me is steeper competition.

...that and there are 360 achievements only achieveable in on-line gaming modes.

for fun and the thrill of winning. I primarily play FPS online though I do play soccer online, typically in the OS leagues that happened more frequently last year.

I don't talk trash unless some dude starts bringing the fire to me. I wait, rack up a bunch of kills against him, then berate him for being so bad and dumb. How you gonna talk when you shuttin' up?

It just boring playing against an AI. I play almost online only if possible.

If i were to have an epic game against a human it is just not the same having it vs a ai.

Why are there so many racists online? I never see these people when I go out, yet they come out the woodwork after giving them a severe thrashing...LOL

Because they feel so big and strong (and abrasive) behind a network connection when they can't get in trouble for anything or reveal their true identities, yet I don't know why they feel the need to do it anyway. Just like us behind our own connection, we couldn't care less what they have to say.

I don't see the fun in thrashing regardless. So just like sportsdude, I just give 'em head shots when they're all talk and no game.

Re: Why do you play games online?

Mostly I play for plain old fun, but of course it's always nice to win. But I'll take a well-played loss against a friend so long as it was enjoyable. I lost to one of my EASHL teammates head-to-head in NHL 09 the other night, 4-3 with him scoring in the last minutes of the game. I fought hard to tie it up at 3-3 and while the L was disappointing, in the end it's a game.

I can't wrap my head around playing online games primarily to talk trash. Had a guy send me a Live message saying "ur so bad u should just stop playin the game u hoser" after the only ranked game I ever played in NHL 09. The best part -- he beat me 1-0. Gotta love it...
