Yeah, but most places are like that.

What you can try, alternatively, is finding a parking lot that would charge you less for 24 hours in that area. Most places charge around $30 for 24 hours.

I would just eat the cost. A lot of these lots have attendants who are just complete idiots with your car, parking it into a wall and messing up your bumpers. TRUST ME.

God bless you New Yorkers. I love the city, but Ive seen so many bullet holes in cars, smashed doors, bumpers, etc.

They should institute a no personal vehicle law.

During the Christmas of '01, right after 9/11, obviously, I was in NYC with my family and we were driving close to Chinatown or whatever it's called. Anyways, we see these cars full of bullet holes and as we sloooowly get closer to our destination, we saw the end of a gun fight, with cops already there...

Well that makes sense, since you were in the wrong place at the wrong time. That can happen anywhere.

You made it seem like everyone walks out their house in the morning to go to work only to get annoyed their car got shot up.

LOL, my biggest beef about driving in NY was after I got my father's 1997 Lincoln Town Car after he died. Car was in excellent condition, with low miles. The drawback was that everyone thought I was a taxicab. I'd be stopped at a light, only to have some idiot pulling on the door trying to get in. I seriously had to consider driving with a sign that said "I AM NOT A TAXI".

Just like guys driving a work van...getting flagged down in South Jamaica-St. Albans. Happens all the time.

My man had that happen on Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn. After awhile he was like "screw it" and made himself a little change that afternoon. Folks will pay anything to avoid waiting for the B41 on a hot Saturday afternoon.

In Brooklyn try Botanical Garden. In Bronx try The Bronx Zoo. Manhattan try Times Sq.-Broadway 42nd St. & Macy's Herald sq. Queens..........idk look at latina women.....lol

Just got back from NYC and all I can say is WOW!!

I've traveled all across the world and even been to NYC a few times, but this time took the cake. My hotel was on W39th and 9th, the Wyndham Garden Hotel. I was only there for a few days, so I didn't get to see much. I was in Times Square quite a few times, saw maybe 1/20 of Central Park, ate at Tom's Restaurant in honour of my boy Seinfeld, and did some general sightseeing around Manhattan.

You guys are soooo lucky to live in such a great city. It was soooo busy, I can't imagine living in Manhattan year round, but I wish I could live in NYC. How are the other burroughs? Better? Worse? Many sights? Busy?

One of the best parts of the trip was watching the Mets x Philly at CitiField on Friday night. I thought baseball is a horribly boring game -- until wathing it in NY. Passionate fans, entertaining events, and so forth. Chris Rock was at the game, howls. Me and my girl ended up buying all this Mets gear (we're Blue Jays fans, but I've always liked the Mets ever since Strawberry, Gooden, and the Kent trade that brought David Cone to the Jays.

One thing I'm curious about is salaries. I saw a 70 sq. foot studio for 1,500 a month.. wow that's expensive. So if you're a teacher, or work at a supermarket or in a hotel, something that's not too high paying, how do you even survive?

The other boroughs have little sections that each have their own "charm" to them. Some are more populated than others... but they are nowhere close to as lively 24/7 as Manhattan.

Salaries... I don't have official numbers, but I would say average pay starts out around 50,000 for decent jobs. The price you saw is a premium people pay for living in Manhattan. You typically don't need a car when you live there (subway) so it evens out.

You can get a nice spacious 2 bedroom for around that same price in the other boroughs. I would say a majority of the city commutes. Lunch in Manhattan runs you around $8 for the most part.

It's a very expensive city, but salaries reflect that.
