Re: NBA cards
I got a favre rookie for some digimon cards my friend gave me. He got really mad and he was one of my best friends so I traded him a McNabb rookie later for a crappy favre card to make things evenComment

Re: NBA cards
Waaaaaay back in the day, collecting cards was all there was!
I got hooked when I was 10 (1970) and collected football, baseball, and basketball cards for the next 5-6 years or so...
The 'rush' you describe is palplable...a couple years into it I finally hit my personal 'holy grail' : A Willie Mays card...
I almost passed out, it's a great memory to this day...
I collected nearly full sets of all the cards from that era, and when the big card boom of the early 90's hit, I sold about a quarter of those sets for amounts of cash that market has never seen since...
I recently popped open the footlocker they are stored in to take a look...
They'll always bring back great memories...I'm thinking of getting some of them framed for display in my place...
Good times!
Have fun with it, it's a great hobby...Comment

Re: NBA cards
i dated a girl in high school...long story short, i helped her family move into a new home (which didn't last long - had something to do with them being willed a place that they couldn't afford). but we found a shoe box full of OLD baseball cards - we're talking some GREAT stuff... I tried to play it coy, but she kinda saw that look in my eyes (I suppose) and she hung onto them.
we broke up not long after that - i happened to be at the card shop at the mall and noticed a bunch of old baseball cards. so i asked the guy how he came into them and he said, "some dumb chick brought them in - a whole box full and I basically screwed her out them..." well, the one part of me wondered what he meant by "screwed" but i digress (if you get my drift)...
but i was pissed...couldn't believe she basically handed them over for nothing more than a hundred bucks (which is what he told me she took for them)...STEELERS INDIANS CELTICS

Re: NBA cards
I didn't even know that people collected cards anymore until the other day I watched a special on ESPN about how the card business was dying.
Now I wished that I would have sold all of my cards, from my childhood. Instead they've been collecting dust in the closet at my parents house.
Maybe I'll check them out next time I'm home.
Question... Do they still make price guides?? It seems like all of that stuff should be online now. Wow... That's how long it's been since I checked on my cards. lolMy 2K17 Boston Celtics MyLeague
Alabama Crimson Tide
Green Bay Packers
Boston Celtics

Re: NBA cards
I stopped collecting cards after middle school.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: NBA cards
In HS I loved collecting cards, mainly football.
In the years of 1999 & 2000 I got rookie cards. I hope Kurt Warner is a hall of famer. I have his autographed card and some rookie cards.
Let's see who else:
Peyton Manning, Randy Moss rookie card
My best card was during a random baseball pack I got:
Cal Ripken Jr. autographed card worth a couple hundred bucks. I might start selling my cards on E-bay. Only problem will be with the charges per item...I'd have to weigh the pros/cons.Comment

Re: NBA cards
I used to back in the 80's and early 90's. It's just to expensive to do it now. My mom would give me 20 bucks and Id comeback with a shopping bag full of wax packs. Last time I looked, 20 bucks got you 4 or 5 packs.I dont remember there names but they were allot of fun....Comment
