You should definitely keep animals confined somehow, I can't imagine just letting a dog roam around.

yeah, get a dog crate, that helps the dog feel safe during bad weather.

I don't personally have any dogs, but my parents have a few...

Cooper (5-6 month old St. Bernard):

Emmitt (1 1/2 year old Lab w/ a younger Cooper):

Charlie (11 year old Golden w/ his recently deceased siblings Murphy the bassett and Chelsea the Golden):

I miss Chesea. I got her for either my 11th or 12th birthday and I've never been so attached to an animal in my life. She was a great dog

Well guys, brutus hasn't been growling as much since I started booting him off the bed whenever he growls. Also I don't let him on the bed unless I invite him now. Last night I invited him on the bed and I began to pet him and although he didn't growl he had this look in his eye like he wished he could kill me..BUT he didn't growl so I didn't give him the boot. I give this dog everything so I don't know why he sometimes acts as if he wants to murder me in my sleep some rainy night.

because he thinks he is the alpha. Dogs don't think like people. They should not be treated like one either. Best thing you can do is teach him some basic obedience like sit and lay down, shake hands. Nothing wrong with sleeping with him if he knows his place. But if he doesn't, might want to make him stay on the floor until he does

My dog Howie was on Animal Planet's "America's Cutest Dog" tonight. I made a video of his segment, check it out!

Any ideas on the alpha dog thing? I already do make him wait for me to walk through doors, I feed him after I eat, I make him do tricks to get his treats, he only gets on the bed when I allow him to (when I'm there) and do many things that Cesar Milan recommends but every so often I still get Mr. Growly where he acts as if he's alpha dog.

Honestly I'm wondering if my dog gets possessed sometimes, it's like Doggy Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde.

Our dog will jump up on the bed and try to sleep at the end but will get down when we tell him so. He usually sneaks back up in the middle of the night anway though. The only time we allow to sleep him in the bed is when it's storming. Storms freak him out but I know that when we're gone during the day he sleeps in the bed.
