I've got two for you, both from my mom.

#1 - Me, my cousin, and my mom were at O'Charley's, and it was my mom's first time there. The server comes and takes our order and gets to my mom. She orders her entree and the server asks her, "Would you like soup or salad with that?" Mom replies to him, "Yeah, that sounds good."

A few minutes go by and our salads/soups come out, and my mom looks at me and my cousin with a strange expression. After the server walked away, she said, "This doesn't look super to me."

It's been 8 years and we talk about it every time we visit each other. It really never gets old.

#2 - Mom again. We were sitting around drinking coffee a few months ago, and I can't remember what we were talking about, but mom threw in the best one liner I've ever heard - "I didn't think about it until I thought about it." My wife and I fell out, but mom did to. It's a good thing she has a sense of humor.

From my mother's resume when she was looking for a job she claimed to have excellent intra-personal skills that would be a huge asset to any company. It took a solid hour to convince her that if she turned in that resume people would think she had multiple personalities.

Man, the crazy thing is, my mom is a very intelligent person in that she has a very good memory and learns quickly. Sometimes she just says REALLY dumb and funny things.

Here are a few more:

I used to live in Evansville, IN and right across the bridge in Kentucky is a town called Henderson, which is where I live now. My wife and I lived in Evansville for 8 years and my mom has been down probably 20-30 times at least. One time, she forgot to turn on my road and went into Henderson and called me flipping out talking about how she was in "Hendersonville". I really don't know where she gets it from, sometimes.

On a side note, I used to sell televisions at Circuit City. It always amused me when people would call in, hit the number for the video department on the automated message system, then ask me if I could transfer them to "electronics".

People routinely called surround sound systems "around a sound" systems.

I recently heard a grandmother refer to her daughter, who has Bipolar Disorder, as "Being Bipolo". Add a deep-south drawl to that and it gets intensely funny.

Last one before bed - I have been a member of the Apostolic church I am at now for 4 years and am the Assistant Pastor. For those who don't know, the Apostolic faith is fairly conservative.

A few years ago, I was the Youth Pastor and was helping a group of guys, Senior Pastor included, redo the upstairs of one wing in order to make room for a daycare. We removed some paneling from a cinder-block wall and around a door frame there was a large gap. We had a short conversation about what to do to fill in the whole and someone said we could use caulking. Without thinking, I said, "It'd take a lot of caulk to fill that hole," followed instantly by, "Oh, dear." People laughed so hard they were on the floor. Possibly the funniest thing I've ever said, and I absolutely didn't mean to.

it was just a reaction.

I used to work at a sports store and there was a kid there who was an idiot but was always so scared to ask questions about things he didn't know. So i called in and asked for a bowling helmet and a left handed baseball bat... apparently we were out of both!

In public speaking, we had to give a 1 minute impromptu speech, meaning we just go up and talk about a subject off the top of our heads.


This one kid gets up and literally says and I quote: "Cruises are really fun. One time I went on a cruise and... I know sometimes people fall off of cruise ships, but you should go on one."

There is a story my father told me a couple of years ago of how he was playing the Family Feud board game with a few people. It was him and some chick he knew vs my two cousins, the question was what is a animal you keep as a pet. The woman answers and says..........Shark.
