    Re: Devils night

I don't have anything nearly as creepy or bizarre as what you guys have posted, just a couple of strange coincidental situations. First for the background, my dad passed away when I was in 7th grade and my sister was in 3rd grade. He was the kind of guy you didn't want to make mad. He wasn't abusive or anything, but when he yelled at me or my sister if we did something wrong it was scary. He was also a joker who liked to mess with people. Well, when my sister got into high school she was always getting in trouble doing things like smoking, underage drinking, sneaking out, getting in fights. Now she for whatever reason thought that my dad wouldn't care though me and my mom assured her he would be furious. The weird thing is that at times when we later found out my sister was getting in trouble or doing somethnig my dad wouldn't have approved of, it often seemed to be storming. There was this one time when she was getting ready to go to a beach in S. Carolina with her boyfriend who my mom and I didn't really like as well as some of her other friends and it was storming. Me and my mom were eating dinner as she was leaving and my PS2 with a paused game of NCAA Football and I jokingly said something like "Hey dad, I know you're mad at Missy but please don't make the power go out and mess up my game." Well, the thunder and lightning stopped after I said that.

A number of years later I was at Kennywood Park in West Mifflin, PA with my mom, sister, my mom's sister and her family. Well, me, my Aunt, Uncle, and 2 cousins were going on the Raging Rapids ride which includes a part where the boat goes under a waterfall and some of the passengers get soaked. (These were round boats that sat 6 or 8 people). Well, I wasn't to keen on the idea of going straight under the waterfall and getting completely soaked so I jokingly said "hey dad, please don't let me go directly under the waterfall, let my cousins (who wanted to go under it) go under instead". Well, I didn't go under and my cousins (as well as my aunt) went directly under. Well, a few days later I was walking from my house to McDonalds to get lunch (about a 1 mile walk). There were some clouds, but I didn't think it was going to rain based on the radar which I had checked before leaving. Well, about 1/2 way there it started raining and though it didn't rain hard or last long, I was still pretty wet once I got to McDonalds as there wasn't a place to duck for cover in that section of the road I was walking on. Once I finished lunch and started walking home, the sun was shining and there were hardly any clouds in the sky so I looked up and said "dad, you're messing with me aren't you? This is because I didn't want to go under the waterfall on the Raging Rapids, isn't it?"

The other one is a bit stranger and involves what seems to be some kind of connection between me and my grandfather. He had colorectal cancer and during the course of his illness, had 2 major surgeries that required a lengthy hospital stay. The strange thing was that both times he had major surgery, I was sick with seemingly the same virus and had a fever, chills, and a general ill feeling for about 5 days. Now some might say I got sick because I was worried about my grandpap, however both times when I first got sick I didn't yet know he was having surgery. The first time was in 6th grade and my parents hadn't told me he was having surgery yet when I got sick. The second time was in 9th grade. I had gone to school feeling fine, but began to feel ill towards the end of the day. I got home and my mom told me that my grandpap had a Dr.s appointment that day and had been admitted to the hospital because he needed some major surgery. Additionally, at no other time in my life before his illness or since he passed away have I had such a virus.

Again, nothing compared to what some of you guys have experiences, but still some weird coincidences nevertheless. It does make you think though.

Those are some pretty amazing coincidences or else something much more beyond our understanding, I agree. Thanks for sharing

I think he loved doing the weeding. As I got older I would offer to cut the neighbors lawn or shovel snow since alot of the neighbors around me were old. That specific neighbor practically yelled at me for cutting a section of his lawn.

But yeah doing chores for eternity would be horrible. I would rather go for the living past lives option or traveling to different dimensions.

In fact the day my grandmother died in her house, I was with my grandfather and suddenly the TV lost all reception and all I got was snow, then after a few minutes came back. This was a TV with no cable just antenna. Then a few months later my cousin, my sister and myself each had a dream where our grandmother flew in wearing orange clothes and saying she was ok. My paticular dream I was outside on my parents deck eating cereal when she flew in to give me a hug. When I came back from college my family was staying with my grandfather while our new house was being built and I slept in the basement just below where she died and I would have dreams of my grandmother following me. It scared the crap out of me, I was glad when our house was finally finished.

Actually my grandmothers bday was in the spring and I was in my current house watching TV and noone else was home and I started smelling my grandmothers perfume. My mom said she smelled the perfume at her house also.

I could go on and on with stories like this, but I wont.

Thats exactly what happened to my sister, she would real strongly smell her aunt's perfume in the hall and then she'd look out and swear she'd see her going down the stairs. This was a week or less after she died in a horrific car accident.

Lol I have no idea why I read this stuff b/c I know its going to freak me out. But something is always pulling me in and telling me to check it out. I guess its just interesting to me b/c when I was younger I used to a vivid imagination.

Any time I saw something that scared or excited me I could close my eyes and just picture it exactly. It was cool and scary at the same time b/c I use to freak myself out by morphing the images and making them even better or worse.

There were times when I couldn't even sleep for fear of my mind bringing up crazy images. It started off simple like me just remembering stuff I saw and then as I got older I would just make up stuff on my own. Lol I just assume this happens to everyone this happens to every kid but man this type of stuff just brings me back. I was seeing some crazy stuff and I'm always like am I the only one seeing this type of stuff or not.

Even though mine was only mental its cool to hear about more physical experiences makes me feel less alone Lol. I'm sure these issues I go through are normal stuff but this thread just sparked my interest on whether or not it is or isn't.

Phobia, with all due respect everything except for all the windows and doors being opened at once has logical explanations that are relatively common. Blinds that won't stay shut is one my biggest pet peeves here in my apartment. It's storming bad outside and you hear loud bangs against your house, again i've experienced this before. Dog freaking out randomly and barking like crazy, happens all the time with my little one. The only thing thats nuts is the fact that your grandma saw a screendoor move when she woke up and all the doors and windows being open at once. That is some freaky stuff.

Google hypnopompic hallucinations. They are nuts. I've had like 3 within the past 2 months upon just waking up- a person calling my name from my closet, one whispering right next to my ear, and my arm being completely pinched.

it occured while he was waking up which is textbook hypnopomic hallucination.

Is Devil's Night synonymous with burning down half the city anywhere else? Or is that just a Detroit thing? I actually thought Devil's Night was a local phrase; didn't know it was used throughout America.

                        I'm a bigger fan of Angel's Night.

Yeah I just didn't know it was called that everywhere. Ever since I was a kid we'd watch the news reports in Detroit the night before Halloween that would show dozens of houses burning to the ground each year with the banner "Devil's Night" stretched across the bottom of the screen so I guess I've always thought it was a local term to describe all the fires and mayhem that'd happen the day before Halloween in Detroit.

I just remembered one. Before our school had our new gym we had a really old gym that was the oldest gym in South Dakota. I would always spend long days there with some friends just shooting, and randomly the lights would flicker or this really old heater would just start shaking. It was really freaky. And sometimes if you drove by random lights would be on in the building.
