Yes I do, it gets super cold (5 or lower) my pipes drip to prevent freezing.Gaming hard since 1988

No. The only thing i have is a cover for the faucts outside. My house is also very well insulated since our low in the winter can get down to -40MLB: Texas Rangers

Nope. However, we rarely see temperatures dip below 10 degrees here (though the all-time record low is -8 degrees).
It got down to -2 degrees a few years ago when I lived in West Virginia and there were no issues with pipes in the house.Comment

As a former maintenence man from the South, but was raised in Wyoming...I can back up that the region is ill prepared for low tempatures. Not enough common sense and in most cases, no preperation.
As for the pipes, in sub freezing weather when you are aware your pipes are poorly insulated or exposed and you do not have time to correct that...yes, letting them drip helps but only to a point. Hot water lines will freeze first most of the times in equal conditions so a little faster flow is recommended. And as WazzuRC said open the cabinent doors for air flow.
If they do freeze don't panic. Do not put a direct heat sourse on the pipe but try to warm the area/pipes as much as possible but be prepared to shut off the water if the freezing has cracked a pipe.Comment

Nope...we open up the outside faucets and shut off the valve inside, we have foam insulation on our exposed pipes in the crawl space, and I open the vent in said crawl space.
We had a week in the -20s last winter and had no issues at all. In fact, we had to purchase an air exchanger as our home is TOO well insulated and our humidity levels were hovering around 50%, which is bad in the cold due to the condensation on the inside of our windows that freezes.I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be. - Douglas Adams
