The history nerd in me compels to point out that FDR's speech was technically given today.

God Bless America indeed and RIP to those who lost their lives.

My grandfather was living in Hawaii at the time and actually watched the attack from a tree in his front yard. True story.

Show a video to my class today about this. It was great and they enjoyed it. It is also amazing to think that most of the men that were there were only in their teens. Can you imagine going through this at age 18. Pulling people out of fires! Just a sad day! RIP Soldiers.

Being in the Army in Hawaii, Dec. 7th was always a big deal.

For some awesome reason, my Platoon Sgt. thought it would be a good idea to wash the deck of the USS Missouri on Dec. 7. I cannot say I enjoyed it all that much but at least it got us a free lunch at Dave and Busters.

If you go to Schofield Barracks,HI, that are actually buildings that still have Bullet holes from when the Japanese strafed the base.

Yea my Army unit actually has a really deep Pearl harbor history. If anyone has ever seen the movie " From here to Eternity", that was based on my Unit,1-27. As legend has it, they were the First Unit to engage the Japanese by firing from the rooftops on the buildings.

Personally I think that is a bit glorified, then again I do not know what the regulations were like for getting ammo back then.

If you don't agree with the thread then stay out. No reason to come in here trying to stir **** up just because you find people's Patriotism amusing.

This thread is to pay tribute to fallen soldiers and remember a dark day in the history of our military. If that for some reason bugs you then stay out of the thread.

And if you're so embarrassed by our country's history, then maybe you'd be better served finding a new place to call home. It seems to me that you're certainly enjoying the freedoms and liberties of this country who's history you're so ashamed of.

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

I never in my life figured I'd have to close a thread about Pearl Harbor.

But I'm this close to doing it. The day is passed now, pay your respects or move on. There's no reason for any of this discussion, really. If you want to discuss the merits or "why we are here" then find a policital discussion board to do it, this is a sports gaming site giving respect to one of the biggest tragedies in American history.

                    End of story.

QFT. I can't believe the road this thread went down. Back on topic.

Pretty powerful picture of the attack that day.
