    So I just purchased

a automatic 2000 Mustang for $3200, it has about 115k on it, but my current car, a 97 Taurus has around 165k. Is there anything i should know from all you car lovers?? I got a chance to test drive the car and felt good.

Want to put some bigger rims on it though sometime during t he spring. The body on it looks nice and the inside was MINT clean which was the most impressive part. The engine sounded good, however it feels a bit rough going from park to drive in terms of moving the handle. But thats something that can be greased up right

So should i be extremely happy or just alright????

My concern there would be the transmission...but don't freak out, you said yourself, that it felt more like a handle thing..right??

Yea, when the guy told me that, the first thing my father asked him was about the transmission. But it's just that it's hard to move into gear, almost like it needs oiling, once in gear it's fine.

I'm gonna register it probably this weekend or next week and i'm off in my new car. Going to tint the windows and put some nicer tires as well as rims in a couple of months then

I would also agree about the transmission. Make sure the best you can, that it has no problems. Just ask the person questions of what type of repairs have been done already to the car.

Yeah you might need a new transmission or a new gear itself. That is a hell of a lot of miles on the car. 1st thing first 1st............

          1. Replace the tires.

          2. Replace the battery.

          3. Replace the wiper blades.

          4. Buy some fuel injector cleaner.

          5. Get a tune up.

After all that, then look into a new transmission or new gear itself. Enjoy the car and try not to rack up speeding tickets in it LOL.

If you end up replacing the transmission Id say go for the 5-speed. If that model uses the T-5 or whatever(the one that is on almost every mustang GT) i think an entire rebuilt transmission costs about $150 dollars lol.

Edit: but nice ride man. I want one just like that. Take off the spoiler, lower it (somehow, dont cut the springs though haha), and put some oversized bullit rims on it. Then you have to get an intake and exhaust! That thing will sound mean!

Nice ride, I had a 2001 Mustang before I had to "grow up" and traded it for a Durango (before they looked like ******** minivans)

What!!!!! that has to be a joke, i hear transmission problems cost thousands of dollars. I got the car looked at the underlying needs to be greased, thats why its a bit tough to move it from gear to gear. However i did want a manual car and would love for it to change.

I should do all this, i haven't registered it yet so it's just sitting in my drive way. I will replace the tires and windshield wipers

I think he meant that the transmission itself cost that much. If you take it to a place and have them put it in for you it'll probably cost you closer to $1000.

yea a swap is expensive. but once you get that thing in there you can go nuts. it will be cheap to fix/rebuild/repair.

                        Update:

Today i replaced the two front tires, brought some fuel injector cleaner, some transmission fluid, got an oil changed, some brake fluid and a mat for the floor as well as a steering wheel cover.

Well when my dad looked at the engine, there was no TRANSMISSION FLUID, the guy that sold it did nothing in terms of keeping the oils filled and cleaned before selling it. I haven't got the car registered yet and have to pay some taxes on it, but i'm hoping by next week i shall be driving it in full force.

If it's a GT, then be sure to have the rear end differential checked out. The 2000 GT's are notorious for tearing up the gear box. How do I know? I own one, albeit a convertible (black). Great little car, 112k miles on it, and the only thing wrong was the differential, and the brakes (expected). Not bad in 10 years.

Just bought a friend for the Mustang earlier in the year, a Titanium Dodge Charger RT.

Alrighty, finally started driving this beauty......i'm still deciding on what type of gas to filler the sucker with. I want to go with 89...but i think 93 will be better????

Starting to get into the groove of driving it, it seems as if the guy who owned it previously must of been a speed, the body frame shakes a bit when go over bumps at high speed like my Mom's Mini-Van does hehe
