"**** you JJ" doesn't really compare to making Holocaust jokes to Jews. Then again, the SAT chant could very well have had ethnic undertones depending on the makeup of the other school.

Well no, but it's just an example of pretty bad sportsmanship.

          So?

If Dook wanted quarter, they shouldn't be Dook. JJ deserved everything that happened to him.

The only things more worthless than fans exhibiting "class" are lectures on sportsmanship by an LSU fan.

Not surprising. This whole world is going to hell.

Upper Darby HS, while diverse, is mostly Caucasian.

Is this a joke? If not, it's an absolutely absurd statement.

If you want to look at trends of antisemitism, the world is trending towards the better and it's not even debatable.

                  Damn.

We used to call the neighboring school "corn eaters" because they were from a very rural area and make fun of them for being sent to the next lowest classification (AAA to AA), but those Jewish comments are nasty.

What a surprise, another overreaction by Cebby.

Let me go further on my comment...

Lower Merion is a high income community. Big houses, lots of owners of businesses and so on. Some are rich. Meanwhile, Upper Darby, while suburb, has alot of "Phillyness" to it. More neighborhood to it. Way more diverse than Lower Merion. It's like an extension to the true suburbs like Media, Swathmore, etc.

Have you not taken any history classes that deal with anything about the Jewish people?

Considering they've been driven from just about every country on earth at one point or another and have endured several attempts to exterminate them, I'd say a high school basketball chant is progress (sadly, but progress none the less), not "the world going to hell."

Especially since 65 years ago, Jews actually were being put in ovens. It's an unacceptable chant, but hardly a sign that says something negative about the world given proper historical context.

pretty much agree with this. The fact that this IS a big deal and the people are being dealt with means progress.

First of all, when I used the word "hell" I was speaking in a general sense. Just from the overall lack of respect people have for one another today. It wasn't some religious "prophetic" statement.

Just because those attitudes aren't accepted by society at large do not mean they are extinct. In Europe alone, there are many neo-nazi type organizations.

Those types of words that the crowd used at the game, can lead to terrible actions. Far from "progress" as you stated.

                                I am aware of that.

And in the 30s and 40s there were actual Nazis. Not "operate from your parent's bedroom with a swastika flag" Nazis but "we actually kill Jews" Nazis. And even the Nazis weren't anything completely out of the ordinary, as Jews were targeted in the crusades, inquisitions, and were not allowed outside of the western borderlands in Russia.

No, it's definitely progress. Personally, I'll take a mean chant by a couple dozen high schoolers over state sponsored genocide, forced poverty, and movement restrictions.

Hell, the fact that this is news and people aren't happy is progress.
