Im sorry CB. My grandma passed away a couple of months ago. I didnt get to go to her funeral since Im stationed in Alaska and originally from Texas. I dont think it has really hit me yet. It prob will when I go home.<O</O

My Grandpa passed away earlier this afternoon. He was in the hospital since last Friday after breaking his hip during a fall. The very next day he developed pneumonia that progressively got worse that eventually took his life. I was blessed enough to be by his side as he took his final breath.

Pretty tough to take, and been a rough week as ever since last Sunday its been pretty bleak as we were told that it would only be a matter of time before he would pass away, because he was not responding to the medication and wasn't strong enough to fight it off. I'm a roller coaster of emotions right now(like a woman on PMS ), and just keep thinking this can't be real.

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and please hold your loved ones close and tell them that you love'em, because tomorrow is never guaranteed.

Hey man, I'm sorry to hear about it. My Grandfather passed away a couple of years ago. He was one of my best friends. We lived 8 hours apart, but I called him nearly every other day and would speak with him for hours. He was an amazing story teller, and regardless of what I had going on in my life, he always had a story to tell. I loved hearing about his life growing up. They were dirt poor, and he was alive during the great depression, so his stories really put into perspective how great things are now.

His decline was a slow one, due to COPD. He finally reached a point where he simply couldn't get any oxygen. I was the one that spent the last night with him in Hospice. I stayed up all night, and had to be the one to call the family and let them know he wouldn't make it through the day. It was heart breaking to watch him that night, as he was unconscious and dreaming the whole time. At one point, I watched him put his hands up and move them around, and the he asked someone to hand him the oil filter (barely audible), and I realized he was changing oil in his sleep. He had spent his entire life working hard at manual jobs, and working on all of his cars and pretty much everyone's in the family, and in his last moments he was still working on them. I told the family that if God hasn't finished heaven yet, then he will shortly, because my Grandpa's going to be up there and you know he'll go straight to work on it.

Grandpa's are truly special people. I'm sorry for your loss, especially at this time of the year. Best wishes countryboy.

Sorry to hear that, CB. I lost my Grandmother back in 2006 and I still think of her almost everyday. Just cherish all the memories and great times you've shared together. It's a blessing to have your grandparents around because of their unconditional love and wisdom. You and your family are in my prayers man.
