Changed the thread title to something a little closer to what was actually going on in the video.

Re: DC Cop Waves Gun at people throwing snowballs into traffic.
A gun out is never a good thing to bring outunless you HAVE to use it or feel threatened. It is a nice scare tactic but a real bad move by a cop.
for one, its icey. its snowy. if he falls and the gun goes off and kills someone, was it worth it? a mistake? or something that could have been avoided?
Two wrongs dont make a right and this event was as such.Comment

Re: DC Cop Waves Gun at Snowball Fight!
Couldn't agree more. That Detective showed better restraint then I could have. Especially after getting nailed in the ear. That had to hurt. Those idiots are a perfect example of the "Me' society we have today. Forget safety and other peoples property. We want to have a snowball fight at a busy intersection. Idiots.Last edited by Jackdog; 12-20-2009, 03:33 PM.NFL:Packers

this thread made me think of this video..

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: DC Cop Waves Gun at people throwing snowballs into traffic.
Nothing wrong with what the cop did. I didn't see the video because it isn't loading on my computer, but if no one was shot then what's the big deal? Sometimes the only way to enforce a rule is taking the consequences to an extremity. Some people need to be seriously threatened to be convinced.Comment

Re: DC Cop Waves Gun at people throwing snowballs into traffic.
Let's see them go to the rough parts of D.C. and throw snowballs at cars. They won't be there for long, because most of them will have a cap in their ***. If it was me I would have gotten out of my car and beat the **** out of that one with the glasses that wouldn't shut up. IDIOTS...Comment

If I had to deal with the mess of being on the road and then worrying about snowballs nailing my car I wouldn't be too happy.Comment

Re: DC Cop Waves Gun at Snowball Fight!
Change my title back. There was nothing against the TOS in it, so no reason to change. It was a snowball fight actually, if anyone decided to read the article linked at the end. Unfortunately some "negative" (go read the article and you'll see what I mean) crashed the party and this is where the video picks up.Last edited by Bruins; 12-20-2009, 08:37 PM.Comment

The cop had his gun out, and did not point it at anyone or "wave it around" as your thread title seems to state. He had it drawn because he was responding to a call about a man with a gun who had emerged from his car after anti-war protesters interrupted a neighborhood snowball fight and things turned "unruly." The cop put the gun away when he recognized the other armed man as a plain-clothes detective.
Now tell me how your thread title represented the story better than what I changed it to? So no, I am not going to change the thread title back to what you had, as it was misleading. The fact that there was a snowball fight was not even the story. The anti-war protesters and the plain-clothes detective are.Comment

Re: DC Cop Waves Gun at Snowball Fight!
The plain clothes detective was the black detective in the trench coat (don't misread my use of race as a negative, merely using it as a way to point him out). There wasn't another plain clothes detective on the scene. How can he be responding to a report about himself...? The officer that responded to the call was the first uniformed officer you see in the video.
Clearly I'm in the minority here, in that I think there should be some semblance of gun control. To have his gun in his hand waving around in the manner in which it was, is irresponsible. What if it accidentally discharged and someone was struck?Comment

Re: DC Cop Waves Gun at Snowball Fight!
I've watched every video linked off of the article you posted and have yet to see the cop "wave" his gun around. He unholsters it and keeps it at his side and then the uniforms show up.
And again, your thread title was misleading, hence the change.
And, after watching the video again, those kids seem like spoiled pricks who deserved it. Calling the officer a "****ing moron," saying "we're gonna get him fired," calling him a "****ing pig," etc...and then continuing to pelt cars even after the officers showed up. They're the morons, not the officer.Comment
