    Worst sports team cities.

What city do you think have the worst sport teams? I don't mean just one sport, all the major sports teams in that city.

I would like to nominate Chicago. I know the Blackhawks are downing their thing, but the Cubs, Sox, Bears, Sky,and Bulls all suck. Also all of those teams can't seem to develop their own talent. When a young get drafted, either they have early success and falls apart or gets dumped before they reach their potential.

At least the Cubs have new owners. Maybe something will change. But the rest, I don't see it happening. The Bulls and Sox are owned by a guy who clearly loves baseball over basketball. The Bears are owned by a little old lady, and they're just a mess. I don't even care about the Sky (sorry).
Boy this habit is as bad as dope!!!

    Oakland

Old crappy stadium shared by a crappy football team and a currently crappy baseball team which shares a parking lot with another old and crappy "arena" that plays home to a crappy basketball team.

    Last Championships:

    Football: 1980 (28+ years)
    Baseball: 1989 (20+ years)
    Basketball: 1975 (34+ years)

Record over the last 5 seasons:

Raiders: 21-59 (.263) - (assumes they go 1-1 the rest of the way)
    A's: 407-402 (.503)
    Warriors: 187-223 (.456)

If you give equal weight to each franchise, they have a combined .407 Winning % over the last five years with a combined total of two playoff teams out of 15 chances.

You have an NFL owner who nobody wants around and a MLB owner who doesn't want to stick around and an NBA team with only two seasons above .500 in the last 16 seasons, which includes a string of 12 in a row.

Are we talking NOW, or based on past performance? Because Cleveland has the Cavs.

I would venture to say that Oakland wins, based on present day. But it seems just that Oakland is a blight on planet earth, because nobody likes Oakland for anything. Ever. Never heard a compliment given it , ever. Not once. Detroit is more popular. Somehow.

If this includes cities in Canada, I'd say Winnipeg! Avergae CFL team, Sucky hockey team (and a sucky hockey league), sucky baseball team (and a sucky baseball league), no basketball team.

I'd say Richmond, VA, I lived there for three years and there is nothing sports-wise to do there.

For the purpose of this thread it wouldnt qualify. We want cities that have sports teams but have terrible teams. I mean richmond even lost their double or triple a Braves team last year.

Yea, and if cities that have no teams at all are included that basically turns the discussion into what city in the country has the least amount of athletic activity.

I nominate Intercourse, Pennsylvania!! One of the largest Amish communities.

Sad that everybody is nominating their cities. (EDIT: Well, based on the first page)

Strangely though, San Diego has its downfalls despite its large potential. No basketball or hockey team, every fan is a bandwagoner, and there have been numerous talks of the Chargers leaving the city as well. Not to mention their baseball team is holding onto one last player before they completely drop off the map as the worst team in the majors, and the SDSU Aztecs football program is probably of the worst in D1 in the past five years.

Though the Chargers can't seem to ever make a Super Bowl, we sure like to host them.

I wouldn't say they're of the worst sports cities though... they just need to get the right people and make the right decisions. The city itself is remarkably beautiful for sports and deserves to be praised.

                              But again,

This thread isn't about being a "sports city"

It is about the actual overall win/loss failures of the team's there.

The OP nominated Chicago. Obviously it isn't a bad sports city, the teams are just underachieving (aside from the Hawks) at this point.

That being said, I would disagree with SD. Of the two teams, you have one team that won their division, and one bad team. There are numerous cities that can't even claim a division championship.
