Your bias is clouding your thinking. MLS is not on par with the NHL. Do you remember how crazy New York got when the Rangers won the Cup in '94?

      3. NBA
      4. NHL
      5. NASCAR
      6. MLS

It's going to be hard for the MLS to grow too much, though, unless they start retaining the top talent. As of right now, they kind of seem like what the Euroleague is for the NBA.
I think you can throw in NCAA football at #2 and NCAA basketball at 4/5.

Hell, there was far, far, far more excitement in DC for the Caps being in the second round of the playoffs than for any of the DC United championships.

Around here, I don't think MLS would even crack the top 10 sports teams. I'd put it at George Mason/George Washington basketball whenever those teams aren't tournament quality.

Why would you have a bias against a league at all?

I personally hold no bias towards anything sports related at least, but colloquially, saying something not positive about something means having a bias against it.

In reality, prior to JJ bringing it up, I can't imagine I've thought about the MLS in several years. I think the last time would have been when Freddy Adu left DC.
