Hate to quote myself, but you never answered this WTF?

I only ask because a new town, new job, and new baby would be a lot for someone to handle without help.
      Good job! Good effort!

Oh, my apologies DIESEL. I didn't even see it. But her family is around 45 minutes away from her. That's why it's going to be so difficult.

        Just keep your fingers crossed.

No need to apologize man. I was just curious.

This is a pretty tough situation. I understand she wants to get her career going but this is a difficult way to do it.

It seems like there is the one huge "pro" of starting a career that will help solidify the family for years.

But then there are a bunch of "cons". I assume you're going to be paying for a separate household and for child care. When the kid is sick is she going to be able to miss time at a new job? Is she going to be productive at work after being up all night with a newborn? Is she going to hold it against you that you're not there to help out? In the mean time are you going to be able to function being apart from your wife and child? I could go on.

I'm not trying to bring you down and I'm sure you guys have discussed all this. This really is a life altering decision.

In the end if you guys want to make it work, it will work. I really hope you get your transfer and all this will be a moot point. Keep us posted.
          Good job! Good effort!

That's what I'm praying, that I can get this transfer. We're at a point right now, where I'm paying nearly $500 a month for just her insurance, and she's not even making that a month. When the child gets here, it'll be another $168 a month, so nearly $700 a month in insurance costs.

We have talked about it, and we are definitely strong and it will work, I just really hope and pray that I can go to be with them.

It's not an option for her to go... it's a necessity for our family. I am on pins and needles waiting to see if the transfer goes through.

WTF...when do you get confirmation or denial on the transfer?
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

                Wow, your insurance is insane!!

I figured for a state employee it would be better than that!

                That sucks man.

In the grand scheme of things, you got soldiers who dont get to see their newborn child for the 1st 16 months of their life if they stationed overseas.

Or think about how cross country truckers feel. They only get to see their family 2 or 3 days out of the week most of the time and sometimes not for 11 days at a time.

So just take the drive and lose some sleep. Things can be worse.
WOAH! How many miles were you putting in 1 way? How did you handle driving 3hrs one way, I would go nuts.

Yeah, my insurance is taken care of. It's just adding the spouse and child that it gets crazy. But where she can't find employment where we currently reside with any sort of benefits, I have to take care of her and keep her on mine. Especially until the baby gets here.

Country, I don't know man. They say it normally will either go through or not around 30 days or so. So hopefully to goodness I'll find out before too long. It's been a week since I put in, so just keep your fingers crossed for me and the family fellas. I'm getting some serious anxiety going on right now, wondering what is going to happen.

I hope it all works out for the best man.

And I know its tough to do, but don't let it get to you too bad. If the decision on the transfer is not what you want, you'll find a way to make it work. Things always have a way of working themselves out in the end when the love, devotion, and determination are strong enough.

Just wanted to update real quick, and thank everyone for their thoughts.

We did get the transfer, and we're now moving to Warsaw, so she's able to continue with her job and our family can still be together as a family.

Again, I appreciate everyone's thoughts and kind words. And good news to the Northern KY and South OH/IN OSer's... WTF is up in the area, maybe we can take in some Reds games this Spring.

Yeah, "the man" has been good to us, letting us find a great house, and a nice little community with a Church in our backyard, literally 100 yards to a beautiful riverside park, and we're right on the OH river.
