Re: Does anyone have problems while flying?
Well no wonder you feel like you're going to die, you're trying to fly on a bird. I'd also feel like I was going to die if I was hoping a bird would help me fly. Try an airplane next time.

Re: Does anyone have problems while flying?
Well I made it to Vegas with hardly any problems. I felt a little pressure when we started to land, but this was my best flight yet as far as pain is concerned.
And @ Stewaat.....you're just wrong man

Re: Does anyone have problems while flying?
To the OP:
When I was a kid I used to have the exact same problems...felt like somebody was sticking a knife in my ear when I was landing. I eventually grew out of it. However, these seemed to help, you might want to give them a try. Good luck!
I used to find them at Walgreens for cheaper...Comment

Re: Does anyone have problems while flying?
I sat in front of a lady with a small dog on my flight from the Bay Area back into Dallas about two weeks ago. The dog wasn't so bad, it was a little loud before and during takeoff. Nothing to worry about really. The annoying aspect of the entire ordeal was the dog's owner. I listened to this lady constantly talk to her dog like a child, repeating simple phrases over and over again in the same tone. Things like, "your such a good girl, your such a good girl, your such a good girl, yes you are, yes you are, yes you are". Thankfully I was able to sleep through most of it.Comment

Re: Does anyone have problems while flying?
My ears can feel weird but never the pain you mention...maybe talk to your doctor?
Blzer, I've heard of violent nut allergies (past gf had an allergy to all tree nuts, she had a epipen and everything), but everything I've seen requires more contact (eating, skin contact, etc)...didn't think her eating them away from you would cause an issue. Inhaling peanut dust or something? Crazy...I'm surprised you can go out in public or come anywhere near a baseball stadium (peanuts are EVERYWHERE)...Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Does anyone have problems while flying?
Yeah, mine is very bad. Thankfully, if it's outdoors it all seems to be okay for me as long as it's only like a couple of people by me... but inside a small Southwest plane allows it to infiltrate everywhere (probably isn't so bad if someone on the other end of the plane is eating peanuts, but if the whole flight is, I'm dead). The way I see it, if I smell it I probably shouldn't be there. Obviously peanut butter smells stronger, so I avoid that even more.Blzer, I've heard of violent nut allergies (past gf had an allergy to all tree nuts, she had a epipen and everything), but everything I've seen requires more contact (eating, skin contact, etc)...didn't think her eating them away from you would cause an issue. I do have to be very careful though. I'm a fingernail biter as well, but I subconsciously know that if I ever, say, touch a doorknob or public computer keyboard, I won't even scratch my nose with my fingers. I call restaurants and speak to the manager about any sort of peanut contamination in food before going there, etc. etc. It's scary, but I'm still alive. Guys like EG don't help.

Yeah, I'd be annoyed too if you did that to my plane lol Smart though, cause they'd be airborne and recirculated I bet, it'd be curtains for you.Yeah, mine is very bad. My ex would have to ask the chef specifically about nuts in the food/sauces and whatnot, but can't imagine if just being in a small room would trigger it off.
I remember one year in school the parents couldn't send kids in with any type of snacks for the class because one kid was allergic to peanuts. We hated that kid for ruining the fun lolNintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Does anyone have problems while flying?
I guess my only issue with flying is that the bar might not be fully stocked!
I typically fly a few times each year for business travel. Generally once or twice over to Europe, or maybe Asia, for an Investigator Meeting (a meeting where we tell the doctors participating in our studies what the study is all about and how to fill out all the paperwork they'll need to do), as well as once or twice a year domestically for the meetings. If flying domestically, the company will only pay for coach flights and will only pay for the cheapest one possible, so it usually results in multiple layovers and a long day of travel. In March I'm heading out to Arizona for a meeting so that will probably be a flight from Providence, RI to Detroit, MI to Phoenix, AZ. Ugggh.
When I have to fly internationally, however, they put me up in Business class. I remember the first time I flew on the company's bill with my boss and a few colleagues back in 2006. Went over to our office in Sandwch, England so we took off from JFK in New York and flew to Heathrow in London. I had never left the country before, nor flew in business class so I was stunned. They had a limo pick us up from the office and drive us to the airport, we got preferential treatment the whole way through the airport, got to sit and wait in the presedential lounge instead of the normal lounge, and when I got to my seat on the plane I was stunned! So THIS is why business/1st class flights are so freaking expensive! The drinks were free, which I didn't know, and the food was actually incredibly good. My boss laughed at me because she had been in the business for a good ten years already and had done this many times. The entire time in England was great. Got to walk along the streest of Canturbury and do some sight-seeing as that's where our hotel was. The guy who drove us into the office was a golfer as well, so he took me to St. Andrews' Golf Course and drove me around the area since it was on the way into the office. One of the nights there, we had dinner on the main road in Ramsgate which is right along the English Channel. So we could stand on the edge and look over at France in the middle of the night. Then went and had a few drinks in a pub that is older than the USA is.
In 2007 I went over to Brussels, Belgium for another IM, and if you are a beer lover, that is the city you have to visit! I didn't go international in 2008 as I had no studies starting up, but last year I had an IM in Rome, Italy. That has been my favorite trip so far. Rome is simply an incredible city. The food, the drink, the flight over there where you can look out the window and see the Alps. It was great. Saw so many great sites and our hotel was built on ancient Roman ruins, so per the local law, they couldn't move the ruins so they just built over them and put glass floor down so you could look down and see an ancient highway with the remains of soldiers lying along the side. Incredible.
On the way back home, I was downing the champagne they were giving me and just having a good time. When we landed back at JFK, as I was leaving the stewardess who was serving me all the champagne said "We have an extra bottle of this, and since you seemed to enjoy it and were so polite the whole time, I'd like you to have this." So she gave me a full bottle of a damn good champagne just for being a nice drunk. lol.
In April I'm heading out to Europe again. Not sure of the destination yet as it hasn't been settled, but it will possibly be Prague in the Czech Republic, Lisbon in Portugal, or Madrid or Barcelona in Spain. It's funny. I've lived in the United States my whole life but have never been to Washington D.C., yet over the past five years I will have been to the capital of England, Belgium, Italy, and possibly Spain or Portugal or the Czech Republic if the meeting isn't in Barcelona.
I like to fly.

Re: Does anyone have problems while flying?
I hate planes.
1. People fart
2. Baby's cry
3. Crappy food that costs 5 dollars when you pay $200 + a ticket
4. People smell like B O
5. Seems like a whale always sits next to me
6. Ears pop
7. Head feels like it's about to explode on landings
8. Always a chance that you can have a terrifying deathComment
