I went to Starrcade 98 when it came to DC. I witnessed Goldberg lose his first match on WCW. Actually Goldberg lost an undocumented dark match against Roddy Piper, before his push top.

Re: What Was Your First Pro Sport Event Experience?
1990 @ Giants Stadium: New York Giants vs. Phoenix Cardinals.
Awesome game, still remember it pretty well. Simms went down with an injury and Hostetler, in a sign of future things to come, leads the G-Men back from a 19-10 fourth quarter deficit. I went with a friend and his parents and we had good seats, about 10 rows back in one of the end zones. Stephen Baker caught a long TD pass to bring it within 19-17 and Matt Bahr kicked the game-winning FG in our end zone as time expired.
Funny enough, Giants win the Super Bowl later that season by the exact same score.Currently Playing:

Re: What Was Your First Pro Sport Event Experience?
The first pro game I remember was Phil Niekro's final Braves appearance in 1987 when they brought him back for that last game. I was 8 or 9 at the time, so I'm sure I had gone to a Braves game before that, but that's the first one I remember. I know I went to an Iron Bowl earlier than that, I believe the '86 one, but that isn't professional.
I've actually never been to a NFL or NBA game, I hope to one day though.

Re: What Was Your First Pro Sport Event Experience?
Earliest I can remember was a Pittsburgh Pirates game against the St. Louis Cardinals at Three Rivers Stadium that I went to with my dad in '88 or '89 when I was 7 or 8. I remember we were eating in a dining area overlooking the Cardinals bullpen and my dad told me to yell hi to Jose DeLeon who had previously played for the Pirates (I guess my dad liked him or he was a popular player when he played for the Pirates). Later we were sitting in the front row just beyond the Cardinals dugout watching warmups and one of the Cardinals coaches came over and gave me a ball.Last edited by BurghFan; 02-06-2010, 03:17 PM.Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII

Re: What Was Your First Pro Sport Event Experience?
I'm pretty sure it would have been a Royals game back in the early to mid 80's, but I couldn't tell you what you what game.
Hmm...thinking about things it could have been a KC Kings game. I know my Dad had season tickets, so maybe I went to one of those. That would have been early to mid 80's as well as I belive they went to Sacramento in '85 or '86.Comment

Re: What Was Your First Pro Sport Event Experience?
It was a Cincinnati Reds game when I was 6 or 7 I can't remember what age. It was when they played at Riverfront. I remember being so scared because when we walked through the gate and then walked to where you could see the field at that time I thought we were so high up lol.
They played the Mets it was 1995 I think.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

My first game was May 29, 1993 at Fulton County Stadium with the Giants visiting the Braves. I was dissapointed in the pitching match up as it was Pete Smith against Greg Brummett (making is big league debut).
Giants won 6-3 with Clark and Bonds both homering off of Smith. Ron Gant also dropped a routine fly ball in left for an error."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

Re: What Was Your First Pro Sport Event Experience?
A's vs. Tigers at Old Tiger Stadium. My Grandpa took me when I was 7 years old. I got an A's batting helmet. I had that bad boy for about 15 years. Couldn't see much of the game, was right behind a girder. But I still remember the experience. The ones that I remember most, though, are my Michigan games in The Big House. Yes, I know it's not Pro, but it was the greatest sporting experience of my life. We had season tickets and would walk 1 1/2 miles through campus to get to the stadium. The river of humanity walking to the stadium gave off a palpable excitement. And when I walked throguh the gate and looked down over the field and at all the people, just incredible. Better than any Pro sport I've ever attended!Note to Tiburon Marketing:

My first pro experience was a Red Sox/Tigers game at Tiger Stadium in 1991. I remember the lush grass and the intense heat but no game specifics.
My first NBA game was at the Palace of Auburn Hills between the Pistons and Bucks in 1993 (a few weeks after Blue Edwards had been acquired by Milwaukee). Brad Lohaus went to work on Detroit that evening.
And to relate to U of M, I gave up tickets at the 50 yard line to the MSU-UM double overtime classic a few years ago (when Braylon Edwards snagged the winning catch) and instead spent the evening reconciling with a girlfriend. It worked out really well at the time and I thought it would be my "Good Will Hunting/Carlton Fisk" moment but then she got married to someone else.Comment
