Why do guys sit and post on the internet during games WHILE THEIR TEAM is playing?

This has bothered me for years. I've never understood why, better yet how, a fan can have their team on tv and be posting literally play by play on an internet forum. It's always baffled me. For instance, the Super Bowl thread is full of Saints fans POSTING DURING THE GAME. During the National Championship game there were Texas and Alabama fans POSTING DURING THE GAME.

When my team is on, I'm not even thinking about posting in forums. All of my friends are the same way. We'll post before or after, but DURING? Why or how do people do this.

I've wanted to ask this for years. I'm not sure why it took me this long.

My GF doesn't like football, so I can either talk to myself about what's going on, or discuss it with others online.

But I have a laptop so it's pretty easy for me to sit on my couch watching the game while playing around online.

For discussion, usually. Whats the difference between discussing with people on a forum between plays and listening to announcers discuss in between plays?

In fact, I prefer participating in discussion than listening to two guys discuss for me. There is downtime between plays...

So people can comment about bad noncalls like the obvious illegal block in the back on Manning after he threw the pick that would surely negate the td. O wait, noones talking about it...

          lol I saw that.

As I post "while I watch the Super Bowl" myself, I was more asking how you do it if it is the team that you route for. Maybe I'm just a different breed, but my laptop isn't out during Georgia Tech games. It is out during other games though, like this Super Bowl.

I don't know if that makes sense, but that was what I was trying to ask.

Because, there is still downtime between plays. I am even more fired up when it is my team, and therefore would like to discuss plays more. I can still pay attention to the game itself, and use the laptop during commercials/downtime.

It's called multitasking. And it makes the watching experience more interactive. especially when you want to rant about a bad call or cheer about a nice play.

Do you ever watch the game with friends or at a bar and talk to the people around you during breaks in action? Same thing.

I usually sit in bed and watch with my laptop, so it's really not that difficult and I don't miss anything.

Laptop or posting via smart phone, rather easy to do.

I understand about the venting part especially. I'll try it during one of the upcoming GT hoops games. I hope I don't break my laptop

If my team was in the Super Bowl or the Finals or something, I wouldn't be anywhere NEAR a computer, and if I was....I'd only be on a fan site.

Personally I don't know how someone can do that. I tend to post before the game, during halftime and afterwards. Sometimes if there's good discussion or whatnot i'll stick around in the 2nd half if it's a game that doesn't involve my favorite team.

When my favorite teams are playing I like to sit and watch the entire thing with little interruption as possible.

I dunno...it depends on how I feel. Sometimes I sit there with the laptop posting and following other game threads, other times I just want to watch the game. When I do post, I don't see it any different than sitting in a sports bar chatting with other sports fans.
