Ever been on TV? - Operation Sports Forums

Hey everyone, just wanted to let you all know OS now has an official Discord that you can join right now. We’ve kicked around Discords for individual games in the past, but it felt like the right time to make it more of an official thing.

Steve and I have wanted to get this going for a bit because we obviously still hear from y’all who are unhappy with some stuff on the forums, plus when there are forum outages we still want to have a place for everyone to hang. My overarching goal for the longer term is to have both Discord and the forums ultimately work together. There are some logistical issues with the vBulletin forums that don’t allow things to sync right with Discord so there will be a little maneuvering as we try to get mods and forum members any proper roles/tags they need on the Discord, but we can work through that stuff easily enough as people join.

Our general goal is to give people more options to interact with OS community members, whether that’s Discord, the forums, this newsletter, or improved apps. If people want to stick more to the forums, that’s cool. If people want to stick more to the Discord, that’s also cool. In my perfect world, we do a lot of BSing and day-to-day chatting on the Discord about games and sports, and then more of the “in-depth” discussions or hefty things like long slider breakdowns or analysis of gameplay end up on the forums so that can act as a sort of “best of” area for anything OS community related. That said, you all will ultimately shape how the ecosystem shakes out, I just want to give you spaces you like so you can have a good time with other folks in the community.

The same general rules will apply on the Discord as they do on the forums, and we’ve brought most of the forum categories to the Discord as well so there should not be too much confusion as you navigate around.

With the Operation Sports and Discord announcement now out there, it’s also worth mentioning our OS premium newsletter, which quietly launched a couple of weeks ago. Built off the Not Just Another Roster Update newsletter, it offers a mix of retrospectives, guides, interviews and deeper dives into the sports gaming world—covering both current and classic titles.

Some Lifetime or female channel filmed my aunt's wedding for Weddings of a Lifetime. I was probably 13 when it happened. I was shown plenty of times during the wedding and outside of it.

Before Obama was elected one of the local news stations came to interview my professor at UNT and there was a shot of our class doing what we always did before or right at the beginning of class....watch the clips from The Daily Show and the Colbert Report.

Twice, once on RAW back in the late 90's. It was weeks before Al Snow was to return to the WWF w/ head. There were six of us that had mannequin heads waving in the crowd every chance we had which got us on TV.

The second time was the launch of the 360 when FOX News was at the midnight launch at the Best Buy I was camping. I tried ultra hard to hide myself since I had called in sick that day at work to go camp out. LOL! I was on camera for a few seconds.

Being in the Army, I did get in the media a little bit. The strangest by far deserves some clarification. When I was in Hawaii during my army time, I was there was the Army wanted to put Strykers on the Island, My Brigade was slated to get the strykers. Now this did go through some court procedings and all that legal stuff that was way over my head, this did garner some national attention though.

So as luck would have it, I had to do Brigade Staff Duty the same day as the decision came down. Normally someone with a much higher pay grade than I would have answered any questions reguarding this court case , but they all leave at about 5 so it was just me and my buddy. They did write down a generic response to anyone calling from the Media, and at around 3AM, that phone started ringing off the hook. So basically, My voice was on all the Major news channels (CNN, MSNBC, Fox News). I did get a Battalion coin for not effing up though.

I've probably been in the background at sporting events before.

I have been on the radio a lot though, I've done color commentary for high school football for 3 years.

Awesome, were you featured or get to arrest someone?

I was in the local news a couple times myself in Alaska, had a couple highlight plays for football too. Good and bad plays.

I've played on 5 televised high school games.

I know i've been on ESPN 3 times when they've done crowd shots at Death Valley.

other than that, no.

Random sports things (nothing major)...

Crowd shots of Packers games (We're the some of the shirtless ones in 10 below weather, when we get our front row endzone tix.)

That's about it. Been interviewed a bunch too, random ones made a few cuts.

a savelot commercial in pittsburghyou can only see it on comcast and one commercial coming out soon for my work which is also in pittsburgh. all three of my kids have been in them too.

I was on TV during a Rangers game and then another was when the MLB was near a lockout a while ago I was interviewed for that and it was shown during the news. Also during boot camp I was in the band or whatever it was called and was performing during Memorial Day and was on TV for that. Other then those I think thats about it.

Playing football in High School I was on a few local channels a couple times.

I also went to MLG Dallas a few years ago for Halo 2. I was in the crowd and back then they showed the MLG events on USA. I watched the Dallas one and I saw myself in the crowd for like 2 seconds. lol.

I was in two commercials when I was young apprentice chef. I did one for Quality College of Culinary Carrers with Martin Yan, and a spot for the Silver Dollar Hofbrau when I was the PM chef there.
