There's no conspiracy that I have. I've researched nutrition on my own enough to have an educated grasp. No, I haven't been educated in nutrition...you have that...no debating it.

The USDA came up with that to combat heart disease. That's what our country came up with as an educated way to combat heart disease.

The cause of all the issues healthwise can be tied to this:
#1 - Sedentary lifestyles (sit at a desk, no exercise, too much TV)
#2 - Fast food (high fat, high carb, poor quality ingredients)
#3 - Processed food (low quality carbs, way too much sodium, no real nutritional value)
    #4 - HFCS in everything
    #5 - Large portion sizes = consuming calorie excess + #1-#4 = Obesity

The bad luck card: Predetermined risk due to family history
That is a pretty myopic way of looking at things. Your "cause of all the health issues" is extremely simplistic and while your routine physical may be normal, you may very well be putting yourself at risk for something like heart disease or cancer when you are older. My sister has been smoking for 2 years, I am sure if doctors did a ct scan of her lungs they would come back normal. If she continues her behavior for the next 30 years, I guarantee you scans would reveal some degredation of the lungs. The same can be said for a high saturated diet and atherosclerosis (plaque buildup on arteries leading to stroke/heart attack/hbp), mutation of cells in the intestine/prostate, your bodies ability to regulate insulin, etc. Keep in mind health and lifestyle choices we make today will effect us decades down the road.

I see your point. I see where you're coming from.

I just don't agree with your viewpoint (certain studies) about the effects saturated fats have on the body.

I agree with this. My only comment is I had my physical last year and all my blood work came back perfect as well but I was 40-50lbs overweight at the time. It's easy to get away with unhealthy lifestyle choices when you're young.

Just eat things in moderation, and you'll be fine. Most of this **** is genetic.
And I'll add a moderate excersize regime.

That's the thing, lifestyle choices are really just that- for life. Things like high blood pressure, elevated Ldl cholesterol levels, etc obviously all have a genetic component and when you're young and genetically blessed in these areas like you and the other stewart seem to be, it might appear you are able to eat whatever you want and basic health tests (physical, blood work, etc) would report your numbers as normal. Flash forward thirty years down the road, and your strong genetics are much more likely to succumb to the elements of poor lifestyle choices. I also want to stress the fact that my use of "basic health tests" is no accident. While a physical and blood work are among the best things you can do from a minimally evasive preventative standpoint, such things are not necessarily indicative of plaque buildup or other subtle changes happening in your body that can grow into larger ailments if the causations are continued. Its not like the doc endoscopes your arteries with every appointment.

Basically, the idea of using yourself as an example to discredit conventional medicine is wrong on many levels. If it works for you fine, but the second you preach it like its a fact applicable to everyone, I am gonna have a problem with it.

That's fine, you can believe whatever you want to believe. I just had a problem with you saying the links I posted were wrong and that you can spin data anyway you like it, as if all arguments on the issue hold equal weight. The truth of the matter is that the majority of leading health professionals in the world do not share your opinion.
