Growing up my family always put it in the fridge for some reason...

Mine is in a cabinet. At home, it sits on the shelf.

I say no, and would never dream of putting it in the refrigerator, but I like the yes option:

My family always put it in the fridge, the first time I became aware of people leaving it out was last year when my roomate asked me if I was crazy. I had honestly never even thought/heard of anyone not putting it in the fridge, until then.

Sometimes I'll leave it in the pantry, really makes no difference.

No. However, what a coincidence that you just made this thread. I just went to the grocery today and bought a different kind of peanut butter. It's a type that HAS to be refrigerated.

Never had it before. Looked interesting so I thought "what the heck..". lol. I tried it today and it's not too bad. I think I like regular peanut butter better though.

Interestingly I read just a week or so ago why people put peanut butter in the fridge. Apparently back in the day because of the way it's made the oil that keeps the peanut butter together would melt and everything would come apart so it had to be refrigerated. Nowadays all peanut butter can be stored in the pantry without this issue.

As for the poll, I keep the peanut butter in my pantry as well.

It spreads much easier when it's not put in the fridge. Otherwise, it gets all hard and stiff and ends up ripping your bread when you try and spread it.
