Too many donks? So you want to play against better players?

Seriously, I've been playing for 5 or 6 years, making some pretty good money each year. I started with same theory you have - I hated playing against guys who would never fold, played any 2 cards, didn't get the game the same way I did. Then I realized that those are the guys who you want at your table every time, you just have to adjust YOUR play to make it profitable. Bluff less, value bet more, play position, and wait for the nuts or close to it.

I don't play high stakes online because I'm concerned about collusion. I do play medium stakes live ($2/$5 NL) in a local club and just love when player that you are talking about sit down with me. But if I'm going to play the same game as I always do, I'm going to lose money.

    My 2 cents.

Oh, and a 5-outer really isn't a bad beat, in my opionion. He's only like a 4-1 dog.

Exactly, thats the whole idea of having Bankroll Management. So when you do lose on a bad hand you can recover.

Plus dont be pissed if you have AA and the pot odds dictate that your opponent should call with anything and you lose to a 72os. Its poker.

I made mistake of winning and going higher and higher. Its kind of like martingale system gambling and I dont have the infinite bankroll.

I have already determined that poker as a second and even a first income is very profitable. Given you use bankroll management.

I don't play enough IRL now, but I'd always get frustrated going to the low limit games in casinos after playing mostly in tourneys with friends. I can chip out a minor winning at the low limit tables, but it's tougher to make a decent amount. I'd have to think about it more and change my strategies.

I've yet to play no limit in a casino, just don't have the bankroll/desire to possibly lose the amount I'd have to sit down with.

As it is I usually get to the final 3ish of a lot of the tournaments people host (usually some quality people and always a few crappy players), and once you get that far it's a bit of luck to win.

I called it a bad beat in the sense that it knocked me out of a tournament where first place paid over 1.1 million dollars. That doesn't happen to me every day.

I lost forty dollars yesterday on full tilt. All $10 dollar buy ins top 3 get cash.

round one: Pocket kings...Got beat on the down card...Pair of aces.

round two: Pocket queens...Got beat on the down card...Pair of Kings

Round three: 3 of a kind with kings...Got beat on the down card...Full house

Round four: 3 of a kind with 7's...Got beat AGAIN with the down card...3 of a kind with J's

I got beat everytime on great hands...On the last drawn card! I played how the rules should be played...But I got royaly screwed. ALL 4 I was in the top4...If I won any of those...I would of gotten cash.

Online poker is BS especially full tilt...It's like full tilt knows...I havent gotten so unlucky in my life.

I'm going to an Alice In Chains concert at Foxwoods next weekend. I'm probably going to head there much earlier in the day and play some cards for a few hours. That should at least get me some money to pay the car repairs I need. (Been there dozens of times, and I haven't lost. Sure I've had days where I just left while even or only up by ten or twenty bucks, but typically I'm able to do fairly well at the lower limit tables by just being very tight and playing the top tier hands).

That is how my game yesterday was. I had pocket kings. The other guy had pocket 7s. It was all low cards the first for, we are both all in so I can see his cards and I am getting happy. The river...a 7 of course. Luckily it was only a $1 game.

This one put me on tilt for like 3 days. Having three players in the hand gave the flush draw the right pot odds to call.

Re: ATTN: Online poker players of OS

Witnessed a bad beat today that I'm very happy I was not involved in. Playing at Mohegan Sun and I was dealt AK of hearts. I raised it up pre-flop to 3 times the big blind. Got called by one person, and raised all-in by another person. Everybody else folds. Since the pot wasn't looking too massive, I just decided to fold my AK since the all-in raise, and the way the other person was getting their chips ready to move in, told me that somebody had to have aces and I was not going to be doing well. I fold, and sure enough the other person calls.

I was right. The all-in person had A-A, and the other person had 9-9. I was fairly happy I got out.

The flop comes down A-8-2 with two hearts. Sure, at that point I kind of said "hmm. Perhaps a heart will come and I could have taken it." So the guy all-in with his 9-9 needed running 9's in order to win the hand. The turn AND river were those miracle 9's he needed. WOW! Yes, I would have wound up with a flush and all my money in the other guy's chip stack, but holy crap that A-A guy suffered a horrific one. Let's just say that the reaction he gave was not very mature or adult like. It was actually nice to see him get cleaned out since he had been making crazy raises all day just because he bought in with a lot of money. Now when he actually had something, he gets screwed over just like he had screwed over so many others. He soon tilted and was cleaned out. Heh.
