Well, I'm glad I looked up potato bug on wikipedia before I posted this otherwise I would have looked like a fool. Those "potato bugs" (Jerusalem crickets) you have in California are huge.

However over here in Pennsylvania, potato bug refers to pillbugs which are rather small. My sister and her friend used to collect them when they were kids

      Aren't those rolly pollies?

(Not sure if that's what everyone used to call them as a kid. That's what I remember them as...lol)

Ha, I remember grabbing rollie pollie's as a kid and flicking them what must have seemed like a millions miles away from my driveway as a kid .... On Topic - bugs scare the crap out of me. I will literally run the other way if I have a bee or wasp fly up on me - I have no shame, I will flail like a little school girl.
          Truly Blessed -

Same here. I'll try to keep my composure and act cool, but I usually end up flipping out. I can't even kill small cockroaches in my bathroom from time to time
