I really hope other states take notice to this quickly. Way to go Massachusetts.

Cell phones became illegal here not too long ago, but man, the elderly driving test thing is something I've been wanting to see for years. I really hope this catches on.

It's a start, though every MA driver should have to be retested every 5 years, not just old people. That state is a disaster.

As someone who visits Florida a handful of times per year, I'm all for re-testing the elderly...

Most people seem to stink at driving, but they take it to a whole 'notha level...

And only a year ago the lovely state of Massachusetts de-criminalized marijuana.

I hope they do this here, I've been 5 minor accidents since I moved to OK and all of them involved elderly drivers backing into me in parking lots. It's about time somethings gets done about this. IMO people over 80 should not be driving.

Completely disagree with that statement. Sure some people over 80 are no longer capable of driving, but that is an over generalization to say nobody over 80 is capable anymore. My grandfather for example, is pretty close to turning 80. He is still an excellent driver from what I have seen, and has never caused an accident whatsoever. His vision and reflexes are still very good as well. Not to mention he actually drives the speed limit rather than going 20 mph under like you see alot of elderly people. Like I said I don't think that would be fair at all to individuals over 80 who are still capable of driving to be lumped in with the ones who can't.

In general I see plenty of bad drivers from all age groups, some of those have obviously included elderly people but alot of those have not. I basically agree with Ehh, I think every driver not just the ederly should be required to retake it, as it seems there are plenty of non-ederly people who could use it as well with how many poor drivers there are.

In IL they had retesting for the elderly decades ago.......I thought every state had that LOL. Cell phone driving is banned in Chicago, but not the whole state, just like it is banned in Gary, but not the whole state of Indiana.

It should be a federal law. Seen a woman this afternoon texting while driving. She literally was driving with her knee.

                          Tricky subject.

I'm only 20, so It's easy for me to sit and say this is a good idea right now. However, If you asked me in about 40 years, I might tell you it's a stupid *** idea. I guess it just depends.. lol

They should also retest drivers under 25 over and over - because they tend to be terrible drivers too.
