Me personally I don't even try to argue with people on here. Makes no sense really. You just have some people on here that be on OS for YEARS think that they are all that because they are on the Mods friends list on 360 or PS3 and think because of that, everything they say is correct and the law.

And if you dare not agree with them, they will run tell their Mod buddy to get you an infraction point. Not lying I had a guy run tell his mod buddy on me and had me suspended for a week just because I didn't agree with him.

Even more funny was another guy said the exact same thing to him, but being he knew the guy, that guy didn't get suspended at all.

I was like wow.........

Healthy debate is good........but when people start pulling that I am older then you or more educated or have a higher position job card, that is when the debate turns into something else.

I miss those old days back when we had the black background. I'm just glad to have resurfaced after disappearing for awhile.

The Madden, NCAA, NBA, etc. forums are by far the worse. Just a bunch of immature people throwing out insults because you don't like a certain aspect of the game they love.

Most of the heated debates I've gotten into were typically in the Pro Football forums. And a lot were about Peyton Manning, lol. It's obvious I'm a Colts fan. But I'm extremely passionate about them and sometimes I let my homer side get the best of me. I've since tried to tone it down a bit though.

Yeah I find most of the real "arguing" (as opposed to debate) that I am involved in here is Madden or NCAA discussions. Even though I have tons of issues with the games I think people take their anti-EA hatred a bit too far and I feel compelled to speak up because of it.

I will discuss something if the ultimate outcome is higher knowledge. There's been an exchange going on for a few days now in the 2K Basketball Forum regarding who truly receives credit for a steal when a ball is tipped by one player into the hands of another. A differing of opinions has led to a number of posters doing a bit of research, sharing them with the masses here, and thus helping everyone learn a little something about the game.

The Collegiate type atmosphere is right

It was so much more fun, a place for the guys to hang out and have a cool time chatting.

Alot of what some guys think is some kind of frat at OS is simply older posters familiar enough with eachother to talk like they do...ala Acid's sister jokes or whatever.

Remember the Melo tried to get my girl thread P2K started... How he and Pdiddy would gang up on unsuspecting posters with jokes for days?

That's not to say what we have today is crap but it's far different and in a lot of ways more impersonal compared to what we all experienced in those days. Hell, I still remember Cookusu and he's been gone so long that he's literally in the mists of time!

Lots of good posts in this thread. Me, I simply enjoy debating.

I will also say that it is true that some people, mostly the younger crowd, cannot distinguish between debate and argument. Those people are probably the same people who get all bent out of shape when the mods start suspending/banning people who can't follow the rules.

I agree that some folks can't distinguish. I enjoy debating just about anything on facebook for example but i've been de-friended by some folks there because they say I just want to argue about everything. I think for people like that they can't stand their opinion being challenged and thus just want to live in their safe little world.
