Re: How do I become a Mod?

I already have to "mod" as a high school teacher. Couldn't imagine coming home and doing the same thing for free. Kudos to those that can find the time and patience to be a OS mod.

I quit going into the Madden and NCAA forums a long time ago.

I would do it for free...it is just that I do not have the best history with the mods. Unless they decide to look past that .

Steve puts you in a well and tells you to put the lotion on or you get the hose again. If you last the week, youre in.

Yeah, Madden/NCAA are the no-man's land. I feel for the developers that go in there. It's like going into a lion's den in a T-Bone suit. Of course it seems that every forum, save The Show forums, gets that way pretty quick. But, in all fairness, I still think this forum is about a million times better than the company forums. There is a great mod squad here and they keep the peace with more touch/tact than I possess. And it's nice that this sites forums covers everyones games, so there isn't a bias toward one company. When you go to work for a companies forums or a site that jocks a certain title by a certain company, you better get out the pompom's and think that every other companies games are crap. It's more about being a salesman, there.... That's why I always come back to OS, and will for the forseeable future!

I just don't really visit their forums anymore. I'm getting kinda jaded about the whole deal. I'm not really seeing where it's about making genre defining games anymore. It's more about making fiscally successful games, even if that means catering to the masses. I really had hope for NBA Live until the whole Mike Wang fiasco. NBA2k has really pleasantly surprised me, which is great because I was really losing hope after Fifa became just a pimping platform for crap add-ons like Ultimate Team. Let's not fix MM and see if we can get people to buy cards for a fantasy add-on. Duh... But hey, it sells. I now play PES. In a nutshell, what I'm saying is that it's nice to just have an opinion about what is a great game, and not have to play the videogaming business side of things. It's just nice to be able to say things like this, with no strings attached!

LOL, I am blessed with immaturity. I don't need to be a mod. And Brian, yeah, this site has ruined many a game for me LMAO. I wouldn't have noticed most things that get 20 pages on here.

Re: How do I become a Mod?

I can't remember a time where I was against a mod's ruling. Incendiary writing gets so annoying. I think the main reason I actually became involved on these forums is because of the strong moderation. I knew I wasn't wasting my time sifting through off-topic and worthless threads. Here, people have real lengthened, and engaging discussions. At almost every other forum I see, it never goes that far.

When M10 got released I actually couldn't read the forums for a few weeks. I remember making threads about real football and getting 1 reply while a whiner thread gained 50 replies in the same amount of time. I don't understand why people are that way. They make it sound like playing Madden was like being electrocuted or something. If it isn't fun wouldn't you just do something else? Apparently not. Instead, these guys hate on a game, say that EA "lost a purchase"... then buy the game day 1 next year and repeat the cycle.

                        Good times? IDK not really.

Keep on keepin' on, mods. You've got at least 1 fan! haha

Same here. The mods are part of the reason why I joined. You can talk about gaming in a mature way without all the hassle other sites cause.

Re: How do I become a Mod?

I run from any forum that has EA with it. It is just one big mess and you have to wade through 10 pages of BS before you can even get to one game related post.

Really this site and its members really make a mountain out of the smallest things when it comes to games. Got to the point now I don't even read opinions anymore and just buy the game or download the demo before I even read an opinion on a game.

Because I swear the comments on here would make you scared to buy a game LOL. I seen how they bashed Madden, NCAA football, NCAA basketball, FIFA 10, Fight Night 4, Dragon Age, etc.

But when I bought them and played them, I swear the problems people whine about on here isn't as nearly as big as they try to make it to be. It is not a game killer at all. I feel the same way EVERY TIME I see a which is this game better on PS3 or 360 thread.

Or one of those 360 can't handle this type of game or PS3 network can't handle this much traffic threads. People really just need to grow up and stop letting their biasness add words to their posts that really don't need to be added trying to sell your idea to the masses.
