Planes landing @ St Maarten

[Sting]

The beach has a bar set up and crowds gather to let these planes fly right over them. This looks fun as hell. I gotta get there for this.

There's thousands of vids on youtube, even vids from inside the planes which are pretty neat.

These videos are great. I've seen these so many times. I'm a huge airplane nerd so I would absolutely love to go to St Maarten to watch them lane.

I wonder how frequent these landings are? I mean it'd be cool but then happening almost all the time would

A) make my ears ring like a bell

B) Be annoying as all hell

That's what I'm thinking... Ever since I saw pictures of this, I've wanted to go to that beach just to experience the planes. However, if this happens frequently, forget it...I'm at the beach to relax. All that noise would drive me up a wall.

Seems kind of unsafe. You could just roll up and shoot it out of the air.

It's not that easy to take down a 747.

Sure you could roll up with a surface-to-air missile but if you have that then you could do a lot of damage at any airport.

Yeah i can see someone just rolling up on a beach with a SAM on his shoulder. That visual made me LOL.

LOL. Yeah no one would notice that.

The only threat I noticed was if a large truck or vehicle is on that road and if the plane is a lower then usual it could cause a disaster. I saw a video when a plane was on final to that runway and a truck was on the road and the plane just passed it. I'm sure it wasn't that close, but it looked very close from the camera angle.

It's not that easy to take down a 747.

My dad has flown in there quite often now that he's flying Boeing 757s and 767s International out of Charlotte for US Airways (which basically means he flies to the Caribbean, Honolulu, and Rio De Janerio, Brazil) and he always remarks about this.
