    End of Cancer?

    This is crazy:

The 70-nanometer attack bots—made with two polymers and a protein that attaches to the cancerous cell's surface—carry a piece of RNA called small-interfering RNA (siRNA), which deactivates the production of a protein, starving the malign cell to death. Once it has delivered its lethal blow, the nanoparticle breaks down into tiny pieces that get eliminated by the body in the urine.
So far zero side-effects in test subjects.

Wow thats amazing, I hope once the testing is complete this process really works and the no side-effect thing is outstanding.

Is this for real or some sort of satire? If so why hasn't the press been talking about this??

Because Tiger Woods has had a couple interviews, Sandra Bullock's husband may or may not have cheated on her, a car company announced a recall, and there were blizzards in the northeast...you know, earth-shattering news.

As for the article, that's some amazing stuff.

I wish this had been invented 7 years ago...but this is seriously huge, huge news if this turns out to be safe.

Great news indeed if there are little to no side-effects. This would be a breakthrough for the medical community and humanity.

Maybe it's me, but don't we hear about a new cancer/HIV/etc killer every other year only to never hear from it again?

if it works for cancer , then it would lead to help of many other diseases. its like something out of a movie.

Are you guys familiar though with the issue with nanobots replicating and ending the world scenario though? A&E. Kinda funny haha but still I wonder...this self replicating stuff can be kind of scary.

self replication is something that is done by many other species with small body masses ie insects , snakes and lizards. Humans as big as we are we are very weak and suceptible to many things. used in the right way it can strengthen the human body, but you open to the door to crazy stuff like mutation.
