I have AAA for emergency road service...I could call them in this situation and they'd send a locksmith out to open the car.

Same here. Mostly because if you've got something in the bottom of your pockets that you are trying to get, there is absolutely no way to get at it without it looking like you're giving yourself a hand job.

My moms last several cars dating back to when I was in middle school always had power locks so I didn't have to worry about locking the door. When I went to college, my best friend had a truck that didn't have power locks and he always had to remind me to lock my door when I got out whenever I went somewhere with him because I was so used to not having to worry about it.

They ARE called belt loops, at least that's what I always call them.

How many keys do you have? I can't think that is comfortable or looks stupid.

I didn't even know you could call the cops to open your door.

This may be a dumb question, but I don't give a damn. Does it cost you money to have the cop open your door? Pop-a-lock is way too damn expensive.

Re: Sooooo I locked my keys in the car.

I locked my keys in my car while it was running in high school once. I was in my driveway at home, but of course my house keys were in the car also and nobody was home. Almost freaked out and broke the car window.

So I had to break into my own house to get my spare key. Luckily found a window that I could get into.

my sister borrowed my car for a few days, and locked the keys in there while it was still running. I just put on my McGyver hat and slid a metal clothes hanger down the top of the door where the rubber seal is and pushed the power window button. Was done in like 3 minutes, and didn't need to call the cops, a locksmith, or find a brick.

I've done something similar, it took a lot longer though. We were in the middle of no were and it was after midnight, so getting AAA or anyone else to come would have taken probably until the morning. Took us about 20-30 to get it unlocked, having to use a hanger, but it was almost to short.

Everyone is entiltled to lock their keys in their car once without anybody harassing them or making fun of them for it. That's my rule and I have only done it once so far. My wife on the otherhand......

                              Ohh where do I begin....

                              1. My girlfriend locked our keys in the car while living in Indiana and we had to wait for AAA to come and unlock it for us. After we did this we went straight into the store and had a spare key made.

                              2. After moving to Oregon we went to see an early screening of Rocky Balboa and she somehow locked both her key and the spare key in the car, and again we had to wait for AAA to come and unlock it.

                              3. About a month ago I got a call from work and she had somehow locked her keys in the car with the car running so I had to get a ride home and unlock it with my key. (New car so we didnt have a spare for it at the time)

Needless to say she has issues with locking keys in the car and it drives me nuts.

Re: Sooooo I locked my keys in the car.

I've locked my keys in the car a couple times but it hasn't happened in the last 5 or 6 years (knock on wood). Usually I would just call AAA or get a coat hanger and fish it out of there. When my gf and I started dating about 7 years ago, I gave her the keys to my car so she could grab something out of it. At that time I had a key to unlock the doors and a key to start the car. She put the key to start the car in the door, turned it, didn't know why it wasn't working, and tried to turn it again. The key broke off in the lock and from then on I just entered my car through the passenger door.
