Well, there's just the 2 of us for now and it's great. If we were 4 or 5 I'd probably get something bigger, but for us it's great. And the trunks is spacious and just what I need. And Toyota engine, of course.

If you think the Vibe trunk is spacious, then obviously you never seen the Honda Sonata trunk. That thing is like the grand canyon. Could put 2 full grown bodies in that trunk with ease.Comment

Re: Pimping out your car, how much have you done or willing to do ?
I used to be into cars back in my late teens early 20's. See no need now, stock works for me, but 15 years ago, had a Exclipse GSX AWD Turbo, lowered, intake, neons, 5% tint all around, 18" rims, 3 Punch 10" subs with zero rattle, etc. Those were the days, now (and this is just me), but I'd be embarrassed to be driving around in something like that. Just feel I'm past that point in my life with a family.
I still think some of the stuff is cool, and would probably still tint my windows (current car is going on 7 years, haven't done it yet though. LOL) or add a small system (no sub). But like I said, had my 2003 Grand Prix for awhile now, no real desire to do anything to it.
And yeah, I'm the guy who has to have a nice home audio and video system, but I end up putting more money away towards retirement than anything anymore. So that's where I "blow" my money. LOL
Stew's ride is nice though. That's the kind of "pimping" I'd probably only ever do now, just keep a nice clean car.Comment

EG --- yea my taste in vehicles doesn't match my age haha. They told me older gentlemen usually look at the M45. Hey I know what I want...
SPEAKING OF MY CAR AND THE RIDICULOUS TAXES ASSOCIATION YES RANT COMING BUT I'LL TURN CAPS OFF...
And away I go...
+ So I bought the car 12/22/09
+ Vehicle is registered in NY at the time of purchase
+ In January the vehicle is registered in NC
Today I get a letter for a 2009 Vehicle Tax Bill
Mecklenburg Co. tax + Charlotte city Tax + Charlotte Vehicle Fee = $383.00
I had the car 10 days in 2009 and it wasn't even registered in the state of NC!!! I was rear ended on 01/13/10 I believe and the vehicle was still not registered in NC. We had to use the VIN # and NY to find the vehicle information through our DMV system in police cars.
My plates are January of '10 and need to be renewed by 02/15/11.
I am going to dispute this with them tomorrow. I would agree to pay the pro-rated 10 days I possessed the car, but that's it.
If they FORCE me to pay, I'm going to do so in the most annoying way possible. I'm thinking of showing up to the payment department with 383 $1 bills. They have to count them out in front of me.Comment

#1 move is to make the phone call tomorrow and informally try to resolve the issue.
#2 is to file for an appeal
It is an UNREASONABLE tax and I think any REASONABLE person would see that.Comment

Re: Pimping out your car, how much have you done or willing to do ?
I'm on my second vehicle sense I started legally driving almost 5 years ago.
My first was a 1993 Ford Ranger. I tinted the windows (actually applied all of the tint myself and it looked awesome). I put a fiberglass bed cover over it. I had planned on getting a spray on bed liner, but I didn't have the truck long enough. I put a set of 20s on it. I replaced the back bumper with a roll pan. It was white and it had a few bad places in the paint, but I never got around to having it painted....
I kept it for about a year and a half total and then I decided I wanted a Honda Civic. I went to a redneck school and the typical thing was a jacked up full sized truck, but I leaned in the import direction.
I begged my parents and begged them to sign with me to get a '99 Civic Ex and they finally agreed. After driving it bone stock for about 3 months, then I started adding on. I put a new set of 17s on it, tinted my windows, put a set of projection headlights in, and put in a bangin system.
I have two 10" Audiobahn subs and an Audiobahn amp that was pushing over 750 watts r.m.s to each. I replaced all the door and rear speakers with pioneers and I had a separate MTX 200 watt amp hooked up to those. Mix all that in with a set of Power Acoustic tweeters and it makes for one bad *** system.
Unfortunately, after I paid off my car.. the oil pump locked up and I didn't catch it soon enough and burnt my engine up. I bought a Honda B18 engine block and built a new engine. Finished it off with a Pressurized Solutions turbo (a company that's local here) and here I am today.
My dad is a big part of why my car is like it is. He did a good bit of the work when I built the B18 and he's the one who helped me install my system.
I'll take a few pictures with my iphone and post 'em soon.Last edited by AUChase; 04-15-2010, 08:45 PM.Comment
