I don't know if I buy that foresight. They seem to still be about networking, friends, and sharing.

(I'm not into all the games and applications. Every once in a while I'll run an App to see what words I use most in my statuses or who I have the most interaction with, but I don't play any games or anything.)

But it seems to me like even the games help you communicate and network with friends. Farmville is interactive in that other people can visit your farms if I'm not mistaken. That annoying mafia game at least requires people to sell stuff to other friends (again, if I'm not mistaken). It seems like a lot of the games are built to play against other people, which at least gives the ability to create new friendships, enhance current ones, or re-ignite old ones. And, if you don't like to play (like most of the people in this thread, including you and me), you don't have to. You can block anything from each application (I've done this with Farmville and that Mafia game)... no alerts, no requests, no updates.

I think as long as they keep each profile looking uniform and don't let people put music on their profiles (basically, don't turn into MySpace), it should keep going for a while.

I stopped using myspace because it is spam usa. Also, I don't feel the need to be that social. Facebook is pretty much all I need. Most of my friends are on there, so that's where I spend most of my time.

@ bgeno I don't think my prophecy (lol) will come anytime soon, but they need to take the focus off of apps and keep it more streamlined like it used to be. That's all I'm saying.

              Re: Facebook Privacy Issue.

myspace has always been too busy in how it looks for my tastes. I get a headache looking at it.

As for facebook, you guys do realize you can turn off all those game alerts and stuff right? i turned all that crap off. once you do it's just a social networking site again.

And as for it being a waste of time? I don't think re-connecting with old friends and staying in touch with family and current friends is a waste of time at all. In fact I've learned more about some of my old friends than I ever knew thanks to facebook.

I said it before and I will say it again, myspace if for the teenie boppers and facebook is more suited for grown ups. Mainly because you can't have music and dancing crap playing on your page on facebook, that fact alone keeps majority of teens away.

I found all my high school friends i haven't seen in over 10 years on facebook. A lot of coworkers are on facebook too.

Gotmadskillzon - Hmm...good theory but why is it my 60 year old mom has both and is 98% on Myspace and 2% on Facebook? And my 13 year old niece is 98% facebook and I'm not even sure she has a Myspace account. In general I do agree with you though. Maybe it's just my mom got on Myspace first. She's always sending me messages on there and it's annoying because she's really the only one I know on there and I gotta log in and go see what it is..

Sorry for getting ahead of myself, because...I haven't actually MET her yet, but here's the thing. Kind of a long story, but I'll make it short.

So I'm playing Uno and chatting with this chick in there, and she's cool and she looks good (I've had better looking, but she's still a good 7-8), so I thought nothing of adding her. At the time, I didn't even have my photo as my profile pic (though I did have photos viewable only to friends), but she accepted me anyway, I guess because I was cool and wasn't thirsty trying to holla at her.

So we would talk online, and it was cool, nothing serious. Over time, she started to like me and we eventually started talking on the phone (her urging). She even told me she was gonna fly out to see me. Mind u, she lives in another state, and I'll be damned if I fly to go see her, but if she wants to visit me, I'll let her, no biggie to me.

Now here's where it gets complicated. She would call herself getting jealous of my female friends (friends I know in real life, and longer than I've known her) when they posted on my page. So one day, I checked her on it, and she got mad. She hasn't been as enthusiastic about coming to see me since, though she still says she likes me and wants to see me.

Part of me just wants to cut her loose altogether. The other part of me wants to swallow my pride, get her to come out here, smash, and THEN cut her off just for wasting my time. What should I do? LOL

That is just been my working theory.....since I know a lot of teens like customization of their home page. Which is why yahoo 360 failed because you couldn't have music playing from it. Tagged use to be on the verge of failing until they allowed people to stream music from their homepage on it and now tagged is myspace jr basically.

Myspace annoys the hell out of me because people puit way too much crap on their page that is set to auto play. So when you click on a person page you got music blasting, see glitter names scrolling across the top of the page, dancing kittens going down the sides of the page and right in the center you got a youtube video playing some random video of somebody either hurting themself or embarrassing themself trying to dance.

Facebook at least is a clean site when it comes to homepages. Don't have to worry about music blasting or danicing glittering crap when you click on a persons page.
