Anybody here washed their hair in mayo ? Some of my bama and mississippi relatives do it. One of my ex's she is from huntsville and she use to do it all the time.

I wash my hair with tomato sauce, get those big cans of campbells and use them. Never heard of doing it with mayo.

I'm not really a big mayo fan(I put it on sandwiches and that's about it) and the thought of washing my hair with it makes me want to throw up.

I believe the reasoning would be the oil would get into the hair and help make it shiny.

This is the alternative to shampoo that I've heard the best results with. People with frizzy unmanageable hair especially seem to swear by it (after a short adjustment period): http://www.natural-forces.com/essays/poofree.htm

I need to try it sometime... shampoo is a waste of money and all the chemical dyes and scents aren't good for your hair or the environment...

Many cultures swear by buttermilk for skin/hair health... olive oil also.

I've never done nor heard of this.


My step-dad convinced me to use Mayo instead of butter on a grilled cheese sandwich one time. He must have been playing some sick joke on me because it was bad... and I don't mind Mayo.

go to alabama, missssippi, tennessee, kentucky and GA, they be dippin fries in mayo all day long. Heck some will even eat mayo out of the jar like it was peanut butter.
