Re: Are You Talkative or A Man (or woman) of Few Words?

Im generally on the quiet side but if Im around friends or the fam I can be real talkative. With strangers I can be talkative if they seem like cool people.

Like I'll make a random comment around someone and if they respond I can get into a nice convo with them.

Now with whole groups of strangers I'm pretty quiet usually because I'm prescreening everything instead of just lettin loose like I would around people im closer too.

The fact that I'm like this irritates the hell out of the people I'm close w/ cuz they know I got a lot of things to say but instead of just saying it I'm quiet.

I'm a "counter-talker" around strangers. I'm not great at initiating conversation with a stranger, but I can make most people laugh with a response. I've got no problem with being quiet around people I don't know.

Somewhat talkative around people I know.

Unless of course I've got a little of the alcohol in the system. Then I become talkative.
This. I talk a lot more when around friends and family. I hardly ever initiate a conversation with a stranger, but if a stranger talks to me first, we'll hold a good convo.

Do you meet a lot of "interest" females in that profession? I always wondered if plumbers ever got their pipes wet while doing work for a female customer

Man of few words. I could go a full day without talking probably. When I was in high school I routinely did it, from the 45 minute bus ride to school, through the 7 hours of school and the 45 minute bus ride home without mouthing a word.

I despise small talk and it always makes me feel like I'm wasting my time.

Probably has something to do with the fact I don't really care about other people's business or have much in common with most people. I try to hold myself to a higher standard.

This is similar to my personality; I never take the big girl home; that is where my introverted boys come in.

Re: Are You Talkative or A Man (or woman) of Few Words?

I'm both an extreme extrovert and introvert and tend to flip back and forth (taking it further than just talking).

Overall, I can entertain myself, like my alone time, and tend to be in my head a lot. When I'm walking around (at school, the city, the gym, public trans, shopping, etc.) I always have my headphones on full blast. I've had people come up to me like "why did you ignore me the other day!? I was trying to flag you down". I try to explain that it's nothing personal and I tend to block a lot out and honestly didn't see them. I also tend to stay "off the grid" as I'm not on any social networking sites and don't go out a lot.

The other side of the coin is I'm often extremely outgoing and talkative when in social situations. At friends' parties with mostly strangers I usually make good impressions, and with my gf's family members I have been known to be "charming". I'm sort of a "class clown" as well as I'm constantly cracking jokes in class, supervision, with my friends, and basically any large group. I'm generally interested in people, have no problem making small talk, and can also have deep conversations quite quickly if I connect with someone. I also tend to "march to the beat of my own drum" as I generally, walk, talk, and dress differently from most of my peers and am thus "outgoing" in that way as well.

So really, I fall into both categories (mood permitting). Alcohol doesn't change that much, and just tends to slightly amplify the mood I'm in (so if I'm recluse, I'll be more so, and vice versa).

Re: Are You Talkative or A Man (or woman) of Few Words?

With strangers, I usually keep to myself. I'll say hi as they walk by, if they start a conversation, I'll do alot of listening and agreeing, but I won't add much to the conversation.

If I'm around one or two people I know, I'll get pretty talkative. Especially if it's a topic I can speak on or joke about.

If I'm around more than a couple people, I usually just keep to myself and let everyone else do the talking except for those moments of awkward silence lol.

And if I'm intoxicated, well good luck shutting me up

I'm a very quiet person. I hate being in situations where I don't know people, because I'm way too shy to speak up. I'm talkative around my wife and family, but at work I barely say anything all day.

Quiet/introverted for the most part... once you get me going on something (especially food, weed, music, TV shows I really like, etc.), I'm a talker though. Prefer being by myself or with 1-2 other people in general, not a big fan of crowds or large parties where everyone is basically hopping back and forth making small talk... I prefer substantial conversations with people that I more or less feel comfortable with.

And yeah, at work, I just kinda keep to myself. If we're having a potluck or something like that I always socialize, but really I'm kind of a one-man department and 90% of the other employees don't even really know what I do... so there's not much chatting going on. I'd rather just get my work done and peace out... work time isn't my social time, I just wanna get the eff outta there rather than hanging out and chatting.

In public I am usually quiet. If I am walking the street or riding the bus, I always have my ipod on.

However, if I am at a friends house I talk a normal amount. I am not a blabbermouth, but I am not quiet either.
