And it's not that I don't like to have a good time. I love to party and all that but I just don't know about this whole college thing... every time I think about it I worry a lot. Haha... just something to post here since I haven't posted in a while either.

Nervous about college... don't make fun of me lol
I'm so nervous going to college next year. I still haven't even made my mind up but I pretty much don't know anyone in the college I'm going to, and I haven't ever been too far from home so sleeping with another person (no homo) in the room will be awkward. Anyone got any tips or advice for anyone first going to college next year? I haven't even finished my senior year yet and look how nervous I am already lol.

Just remember just about everyone there won't know many people either so it's much easier to make friends because everyone isn't already in set groups like high school.
Just relax about the whole process, it's honestly a great time in a person's life and make the most of it. Just don't get too caught up in the partying that you fail some subjects like i did in the first year because i was out drinking all night and missing my classes. -

Ahh... I remember my first day of college. It was about two years ago...
First thing's first. Find out your schedule and locate where your classes will be... It's a strange feeling when you're thirty minutes late to class and people stare at you and the professor sheepishly says "Nice of you to join us." It's even more awkward when you're a junior like me, lol.
Once you've figured out where everything is... It's all making friends from that point.

Everyone else is feeling just like you are.
Man, thinking back and remembering how naive and immature I was going into college lol. I had a lot to learn, but it was damn fun!Last edited by mgoblue; 04-19-2010, 12:13 AM.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Where are you going? Good way to meet alot of new people is to rush a fraternity. Even if you don't wind up pledging, you'll still meet some new people and get some friends out of it.
Just manage your time well and you'll do fine. Biggest thing I learned freshman year was you actually have to study to make good grades in college as opposed to high school. And your sleep schedule will never be consistent. Staying up until 1 or 2 AM will be the norm nearly every night.Twitter

Re: Nervous about college... don't make fun of me lol
Man I got really lucky with my roommate.
Our baseball coach got us paired up, he was a catcher and I was a pitcher so it made some sense.
It's normal to be nervous because there is no way to know what to expect but I knew everything would work out when the first thing he hung up was an Eric Chavez poster. What are the odds of two A's fans being paired up at a small college in PA?
9 years later and I just got back from his bachelor party!
It's a crapshoot but just make the most of the situation and try not to worry about it too much because it is pretty much out of your control.Comment

1. Learn the layout of the land, READ the signs that is posted.
2. Leave the dorm room early to go to class.Comment

Re: Nervous about college... don't make fun of me lol
I'm starting college at NC State next year (meteorology major). I'm VERY excited to finally get out of high school. I am a bit nervous about college, but I'm sure it'll be fine. At least I finally get to study something I've interested in (except for the general ed classes).
I think THIS is roughly going to be my schedule, so it looks like it could be a rough first semester as far as how many hours I'll be doing.
Well, I've had that covered for a couple years, at least.Comment

Thanks, that's what I was feeling too. Like all of us are probably feeling the same way and stuff... but do you guys think there's anything I can start doing at home over summer or right now that would help me get settled in more with college?Comment

Picking up chicks at college if you are in good shape is like shooting fish in a barrel.
But in all seriousness make you get a good idea of the layout of the college, look into the accommodation situation and frat's etc so you have a better idea what to expect.Comment

Re: Nervous about college... don't make fun of me lol
I used to be in the same boat. I'm finishing up my Junior year in college right now but I had even more questions. I had no idea what I was going to study. I knew about a handful of other people that were also going to the same college but I was going to have a random roommate and campus was huge.
I lived in the same dorm as one person I grew up with but we really didn't hang out much. I'm generally a quiet guy that keeps to myself but being in college pretty much forced me out of my comfort zone. You'll just naturally make friends unless you try real hard to push them away. You'll end up seeing the same people in different places and then you just kinda form a bond that way because you automatically have things in common. I had classes with a few kids that lived in the same dorm. I also had multiple classes with the same people so we sort of became friends that way. Then you'll also meet people through your other friends. The majority of my friends today are people I met freshman year. Co-ed dorms >>
Also, don't believe the horse crap the teachers feed you in high school about college. I remember taking AP classes and them bombarding me with work and excessively difficult tests talking about this is how college is going to be. I studied for like 6 hours my first couple days there, just trying to get ahead. But I pretty much hardly ever have homework, most stuff I'm responsible for is just to read.
