Re: Sleep
For example, I know conventional science says 8 hours of sleep is optimal but I actually do better with 7 to 7 1/2. I feel more lethargic when I get 8, unless I go up to about 10 hours. I think it basically is your REM sleep cycles that affects it. When i stay at 8 I must be waking up in a cycle, which throws my body off.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: Sleep
See this is what I think people get confused.
Saying the OPTIMAL amount of sleep for a human is X hours isn't saying the same thing as everyone needs X amount of hours to operate.
While ODogg might need 7 hours to be fine and Pared might only need 3 hours to be fine, I don't think you can really argue the idea that they both need at least 8 hours of sleep to be running on all cylinders.Concrete evidence/videos pleaseComment

Re: Sleep
In high school we had to be there by 7:40 and I'd wake up around 7:32-7:33 regularly. If I lived any further away I would've been screwed, especially considering I almost was anyway. If I would've been late to school one more time my junior year I wouldn't have been able to go to prom
I have to be at school at 8:35 PM, so I usually have to leave at around 8:15-8:20 to be there by 8:32 or so.
I usually get up at 7:30, which gives me more than enough time. I usually get up, put my contacts in, go downstairs and eat breakfast, then come back upstairs, screw around on the computer for about 20 minutes, then brush my teeth, put my clothes on, and comb my hair at around 8:10 before leaving at 8:15.
I shower at night (always have), so I don't have to worry about that.
Of course, I'll be at college next year in a dorm, so I'm sure my current schedule will be going up in flames after my final day of high school in late May.Comment

Re: Sleep
I have always wondered how anyone can NOT shower right when they wake up. I would just feel like utter crap all day if I didn't, not to mention i wouldn't be truly awake until about noon each day, LOL.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: Sleep
5-7 with it hovering mostly around 5. When you work at least 10 hours a day, want to spend time with your family, and have a kid, it's hard to justify sleeping in even on weekends. I haven't slept past 8AM in probably 15 years.
I'm tired, like anyone else who gets 8 hours sleep, but I'm not falling down or in any exhausted state. I wake up daily at 4:30 without issue, most of the time I wake up on my own.
If I get 5 hours of sleep, I'm functioning without a nap until 11-11:30 at night without issue.Comment

Re: Sleep
I usually sleep around 7 hours per night.
If I get over 8 I'm a mess the entire day.
An old high school friend of mine used to get 15+ hours a day before he graduated and got a real job.
During the summers while in college he'd sleep 13 hours through the night and then get a 2-4 hour nap in during the afternoon so a 17 hour sleep day wasn't uncommon for him.
Even now, I think with naps he gets over 10 a day. And he's having twins soon. Oh the fun!Comment

Re: Sleep
Same here. I wake up, eat breakfast, and then jump in the shower. I can't stand the way I feel after waking up and can't go the whole day like that without taking a shower. I feel dirty everytime I wake up. lol.Indianapolis Colts

Re: Sleep
yeah man, nice to know i'm not the only one, i've had some people think it's an odd habit but I do have to have a shower right within 20-25 minutes of waking up. when i'm done it's like only then am I truly awake and aware. i think this is why I might find post-apocalyptic life somewhat hard.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

My alarm goes off at 6:30. I literally jump out of bed, go into the bathroom, flip on the light, turn on the hot water in the shower, take a leak, get undressed and hop in the shower. I cannot wake up without a shower. I don't drink any form of caffeine in the morning, so my shower is what wakes me up.
For the record, I typically get between 7 and 8 a night. We usually get into bed around 10:00 and read for a bit or whatever and am usually asleep sometime between 10:30 and 11:00.
I probably get less on the weekend as I stay up later, but my daughter does not...though naps are often welcome on a lazy weekend afternoon.Last edited by Trevytrev11; 04-20-2010, 05:07 PM.Comment
