I have to do both. One when i go to bed and one when i wake up. I feel like a feral if i don't.

I was away for work at a motel last night and i had 9 hours solid sleep and it was FANtastic. I never sleep like that at home with the baby waking up during the night and early in the morning so this was pretty rare for me. I'd still much rather be at home though....

You know how parents are often complaining how their teenagers sleep so much. I read a study recently that it's actually very healthy for a teenager to sleep 10-12 hours per day as their bodies are going through so many changes etc. My mother used to complain how i could sleep in to noon on a weekend when i was a teenager, now it looks like science is backing me up.

Man, I sweat at night if it's the least bit warm in the house. Last thing I want to do is wake up after several hours of laying in my own sweat and then carry that around on my for another 8-10 hours

Though typically I shower before I got bed as well as when i wake up...and often at lunch if I use the gym at work.

I sometimes also shower before bed. It's def. overkill as I do a desk job and wash my hands and face and everything several times a day. Whenever I actually do get a little dirty I feel like PigPen from Charlie Brown, LOL

Yeah, I'm the opposite of you. Don't know why, but showers put me to sleep. So I've almost always taken a shower at night. Nothing like climbing into the sheets when I'm all clean and relaxed. I'm almost out within minutes.

I would prefer 7-8, but my sleep has been lacking after starting work at 4 am and 5 am. Right now I get about 6. Nobody needs 10 hours of sleep a night.

That's not fair. My 8 month old has only slept through the night 2 or 3 times. He still wakes up around midnight, then again at 4 or 5. Luckily for me, my wife usually takes care of him then since she's not working.

You are extremely lucky, my daughter who is almost 9 months now only sleeps a maximum of 8 hours in a night. So if we put her down at 8 she wakes up at around 4 ready to party. It gets old.

LOL I know the feeling however it still continues with my boys. I have a 3 yr old and 7 yr old and it's either 8 hours or whenever 530am rolls around. Then they're right in the bedroom, "What's for breakfast?!"
                    You're right it gets old.

Yeah, my son goes down wide awake every night at 8:30. He gets up between 7:30 and 8:30 like clockwork.

We started putting him down almost immediately wide awake, to get him used to it. So always worked at that for a few months, now he's on such a set schedule that it's super easy for us.

                        Depends.

If the Smokies are at home, I'll get 5 or 6.

If the Smokies are on the road, I'll get 9 or 10.

I don't think there is a magic number that we need as far as sleep so long as we go through a couple of REM cycles.

^This. I never understood how people said that showers woke them up, as I always take them at night and climb into bed right away.

The shower doesn't wake me up, it's the extremely cold or hot water that hits my face which wakes me up. Some mornings when I've had a late night and wake up late, I just wash my face and it does pretty much the same thing for me. But I like to shower in the morning because it helps me relax and not hate waking up so much.
