Re: Waiting on Powerball numbers (252 million)

I have won a total of $5. I've played about 15 lottery scratch off games in my life and have only won $5 once. I ****ing hate the lottery. I don't play it much though, it is just throwing money away.

When I use to work at Kroger people would buy 5-10 lottery scratch off games daily and play them on their lunch break. And they hardly ever won, these people weren't making enough money as it is and they were just throwing it way.

We don't have a lottery in Alabama.

Like my man Bill Simmons said. The lottery is such a great invention. Another thing the government uses to make the non-elites think they have a chance to "make it."

Folks spending their hard earned money day after day HOPING to win something that might not even exist. (Has been conspiracies that nobody actually wins). I had to get my father to stop playing that game every week. His mother used to do it so he thought it was the thing to do. Waste of $.

If you want to gamble just go to the damn casino

That's the great thing about living in America, nobody can tell you what to do with YOUR money.

Easier said then done. There isn't a casino on every street, but the lottery is so easy to play and is so accessible that's why people play it.

I understand that is one of the reasons why people play it. They can do it anywhere. Understandable.

All that money is great, and I've been on the verge of buying a ticket before. Then I remember the odds of winning and say, **** it, I'm getting a candy bar instead. At least I know I'll be satisfied with that purchase.

                          This

If you buy a lotto ticket a week that is only $52 a year. I am sure people spend quadruple that a year on things like soda when stopping at the gas station.

Are you people against the lottery or gambling in general?

Yeah, but you're throwing your money away with the lottery. A soda at least gives you satisfaction. And if you buy one lottery ticket a week for 50 years, that's $2,600 worth of tickets. And most people buy more than one ticket a week.

The worst thing is that's it's usually poor people paying the voluntary tax, which is sad. But I can't really feel bad for them because it's their choice to throw their money away.

Of course, I don't have a problem with people buying lottery tickets every now and then for the heck of it, but it's sad that people spend hundreds of dollars a year on something they have virtually no chance at winning.

see, thats your opinion... i'd argue that I get more satisfaction from buying a lottery ticket than I do from buying a soda

a soda just makes me more unhealthy (1 soda a day every day, think of all the extra sugar and calories)... a lottery ticket doesnt ruin your diet, instead it gives you that thrill, that adrenaline rush from the thought that you may win, even if it is just for a moment
