If they have a basic understanding of the game, definitely hockey. I've taken dates to college hockey games, and the fun atmosphere makes for a good time.

Go to a race. There won't be much talking, though, since you won't be able to hear each other.Comment

Re: best sport to take a date to
If you guys are like me, baseball is terrible. For someone who doesn't like the sport, it is very boring but I get too involved in the game regardless of who is playing which makes for a bad combination.
Hockey would be my choice because it is exciting for 45 mins, then you have 15 mins to converse...
But that said, as Cebby mentioned earlier, as a first date, I don't think a sporting event is the greatest thing to do.Comment

Arena Football is pretty fun if the seats are fairly close. Not too close though. Don't need her getting hit in the face by a dude that was just jacked over the wall.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

Just wondering, but why hockey?
Personally, I wouldn't take her to any sporting event. I don't like hockey, baseball would require lots of conversation, and I couldn't take her to a pro or college football/basketball game, because I'd be too involved to pay attention to her.Rice Owls - Houston Astros/Dynamo/Rockets/Texans - Arsenal - PSGComment

Re: best sport to take a date to
I think as far as sporting events go, it's a pretty appealing first date for a few reasons.
The action is pretty controlled. It's about 45 mins on, 15 mins off so the conversation is there, but somewhat limited.
It's not a sport that you have to love in order to enjoy, depending on the level you go to, the atmosphere is pretty engaging (I'm biased as a hockey fan, but I have heard this from many non hockey fans).
I think the best thing about it is that the length of game is pretty much fixed, you're looking at 2.5 hours (unless there is OT which only would add another 20 mins at most) which is good because you can go to a 7 oclock game and still have plans afterwards.Comment

Yep, I took my girlfriend to an NBA game as well (Pistons). It was her idea and to top things off, it was on Valentine's Day. It was definitely a ton of fun and she was pumped because they passed out pink Tayshaun Prince jerseys at the gate. I REALLY love basketball but if I take a girl to a game I still have no problem "not concentrating" on the contest itself. I'm okay with being there for the experience, not to watch every single play unfold.Comment

Re: best sport to take a date to
1st off you want to make sure she ACTUALLY likes sports. Most women don't like sports. And if you just want to "park" take her to your crib and make it a dvd marathon night.Comment
