I think it's because a lot people automatically assume if you like teams from different geographical regions, you must be a bandwagoner.

I think the worst in that regard is being Canadian and liking the Patriots (me and my friend take a lot of heat for supporting them.)

        No

This is the sports equivalent of pissing on someone and telling them it's raining. Just be proud of your bandwagoning.

So what you're saying is I can't root for Penn St. because I have no less than 5 relatives who went there and I can't root for North Carolina St. because I have an aunt and uncle who work there?

No, that's not what I'm saying at all.

I simply doubt that your average bandwagoner truly has "connections" to the Lakers, Cowboys, Yankees, Notre Dame/USC/Miami/Florida, and UNC/UCLA/Duke. In 99.99999% of the cases the "legitimate reason" for rooting for them is "they win a lot of games."

Besides, why would anyone accuse an NCState fan of being a bandwagoner? They suck in every sport.

I'm a fan of the Patriots because my family is pretty close with the Brady's. If he ends up on another team in his career, I'll be rooting for them.

My Red Sox love came with liking the players on the team, and then the year that they added seats to the monster and such I played a franchise with them and couldn't help but start loving them. They've been my favorite AL team ever since.

It's more because those are the teams that are cool to like more then people actually caring about them winning. The douchness of these kinds of fans just comes out more when they win.

Sorry, but the fact that you used to have the Rangers in your sig, then took them out, had the Colts in your sig then once someone called you a bandwagoner you took them out(even admitted to becoming a fan of them once they made the Playoffs), then had the Panthers in your sig because Clausen was drafted by them and now you've since taken them out, I can't help but to think you're a bandwagon fan. You constantly change your teams and I have no doubt if the Lakers, Yankees, Tar Heels, etc. weren't any good you'd have since changed them too. You might think you have legitimate reasons, but it's really because they win a lot. If they weren't winners, you wouldn't be fans of them.

Why do you insist on ruining everyone's sports fandom? You've already made me stop being a Florida fan, why do you continue to do this to others?

If someone wants to be a bandwagoner then all the "hate" is part of the territory. The closest i've come to being one of those people is when I had a fascination and fandom for the Utah Jazz. I still like the Jazz and follow them a little because of Jerry Sloan but I admit once he's gone there won't be anything to keep me interested in that team.

LOL, come on man. Stop bringing this up. No one made you stop being a Florida fan, enough is enough.

And to the OP I just find it hard to believe that all your "connections" or whatever just happens to be with historically great teams.

UNC, Notre Dame, Yankees, and Lakers? Come on.

I don't think if you live in A city you can't be a fan of a team in B city. But when the only team you like from your city just happens to be the team that is successful it looks bad.

Anyways I just say root for who you root for, who cares if people call your a bandwagoner. I mean you should consider yourself a real lucky fan. All your favorites teams have been pretty successful, with the exception of ND lately.

Yeah JJLinn, only you can decide who you root for and who cares what others say. If you stop rooting for Florida or whoever just because someone told you to or called you a bandwagoner, that's just weak.
