Question is, how much of that land is actually usable?

Especially the amount of land in South America where the Rain Forest is, you can't just chop down those trees to put people in there or else you'll be choking the earth with all the chemicals and such we put up there. The rain forest is said to be the Earth's purifier.

A lot

Almost all of North America is livable (though obviously nobody wants to live in the northwest or Canada) and most of Russia is habitable with proper government service.
