There is a lady that isn't very bright and every trip to Talladega me and my buddies prank call her. Last month when we went I called her on Thursday and pretended to be doing a survey for the Obama administration. Saturday I called her back and told her in thanks for the survey we wanted to send her a $100 Wal Mart gift card and all I needed was her name and address. So we then go to Wal Mart and get a gift card for just $5. Knowing the kind of person she is we knew should would go straight to the store and load up on $100 worth of stuff. A week later we called and asked if she recieved her $100, the responce we got was priceless. "Yes I got my gift card but it was only for $5 and I was so embarresed when I got to the cashier with $100 worth of stuff and only had $5" Please don't ever call me for anymore surveys." Best 5 bucks I ever spent.

Yeah, remove this guy's number.
If you ever did get charged, he could simply google his number, see it on OS and prove you wrote it.
If you're going to do prank stuff, you can't make it public the number you're pranking and such. Google will find this, and that's all it takes to get you in trouble.Xbox Live Gamertag: CreatineKasey

Re: Ways to Mess With a Phone Number?
I deleted the number. I don't mind the thread, but allowing the number to be posted isn't something we should be promoting on OS."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Ways to Mess With a Phone Number?
Fair enough on deleting the number. Anyways, I stopped by the mall earlier to get some food and saw a booth for "Miami's Hot Talent Search" or something like that. They were looking for women 18-29 for some talent show. Needless to say, I signed up Taco Bell guy for every category there, so hopefully he'll be getting a few calls.IT'S GREAT TO BEA MIAMI HURRICANE"At exactly which point do we start to realizeThat a life without knowledge is death in disguise?"Comment

And besides that, you will be getting to the point where you both want to change your number. Seems like a lot of hassle for no good reason.
I'm not condoning what he did to "start" this, but I like the TrevyTrev method. Deal with it and be done with it.
Just my opinion.Comment

I'm sorry but I find this pretty immature.

Re: Ways to Mess With a Phone Number?
One of my friends used a prank calling website on me and another friend and it was kind of alarming. Apparently it works like this: you put in two numbers, and the website uses one number to call the other and vice versa simultaneously. I was at work when he did it so I didn't answer so I don't know if there's any message going on, but apparently the website can also record what's being said (which, if there's no message, would just be "Hello... hello? *click*" so it seems useless to me).
What's disturbing is that it can use your number to call another number. At least it appears that way. That doesn't seem good...
Not sure of the website. I'll have to ask the one friend sometime. Maybe I'm misinterpreting how it works, as I only got an explanation from the one friend who was being pranked along with me.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

Re: Ways to Mess With a Phone Number?
I remember one time when I was in college and living in a quad a group of my friends were in the common room watching a movie that I guess I wasn't interested in so I was in my bedroom on my computer. Well, my phone rang and it was some girl named Jamie who claimed that I knew her and then proceeded to sing this really stupid song. I never bothered to question my friends, but I'm fairly certain it was one of them messing with me.Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII

Re: Ways to Mess With a Phone Number?
If he's passing by some raffle that exists in every mall and randomly drops this guys number in, I see no way it could come back to him unless the other guy accuses him.
But chances are this guy is doing the same to several other people and would have no idea who to pin it on, plus to do so, he would likely have to incriminate himself...I prank called this guy over and over and he then went and signed my name up for a bunch of random stuff, which would be impossible to prove.Comment

Re: Ways to Mess With a Phone Number?
Yeah, but I imagine it would be very tough to impossible to prove. I guess there could be a trail if he does it online and they can run a trace on the ip that he signed him up for something with, but even then, I doubt many of these sites keep that level of security and history.
