I put the public vote option to see where people who picked Zan-der would be from (which is correct). I come from Vermont where words ending in er, like center or theater are interchangeably centre and theatre (which spellcheck picks up as incorrect btw). We went with the Russian spelling of Alexzandre or traditionally Alexander.

For those who've answered or will answer, had you seen the full name Alexzandre would you have gone with Zan-der?

Yeah, but even still...the Russian version of the name, doesn't carry the Z. With all due respect, I think you might have dropped the ball with this one. But hey, when he's 21 and grabbing some tail, it will at least be a conversation starter.

I'm not Russian, but during the Olympics I'd always see an Aleksandr or Alekzandr. There is nothing wrong with the way you decided to spell it though.

Both, Xander from Buffy and xXx, are spelled with an X and end in er.

I initially pronounced it Zon-Dray. Then I pronounced it Ah-lex-on-dray.

Yes I would have gone with Zan-der becuase I could tell it was one of those spellings. In fact I probably wouldnt even have noticed it ended in re instead of er.

I understand it's supposed to be Zander even though sp is zandre.

It's just too close to reading like 'andre' w/ a 'z' in front of it.

it is supposed to be like zander and how theatre can be spelled but still has the "er" sound. I just think once a lot of people get used to it it won't be mispronounced a lot, but it will still most likely be mispronounced when being announced or meeting a new person

until i saw his first name i thought it would be dray. but hell get used to it . i guarantee he will end up being called dre by someone in school. my name gets hacked alot even as an adult .

I voted Zon-dre because of the Andre thing but had I seen the full name I would've gone with Zan-Der
